That's not any real confirmation. That's one guy, not related to the production.

I have said that that could happen, too, because Scorsese/Schoonmaker do often take a really long time in post. Doesn't mean I'm right.

I'll worry when Apple themselves say it.

All these articles, now, based off what one guy on Twitter says. We saw how that went with the David Lynch rumor.

The Dish hears that Killers of the Flower Moon, the Martin Scorsese-directed adaptation of the David Grann book that figured to be a strong contender for all the top Oscar categories, it will skip this Oscar race. The alternative plan discussed: the film that teams Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro will get a global showcase premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival next May. And in a development that could be a future template for streamers look to recoup some of the mega-budgets of the event films they’ve been making, Killers of the Flower Moon would roll out with a full-blown theatrical release through Paramount, a studio that was always part of the deal.

I just can’t see Apple campaigning both Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” and “Killers of the Flower Moon” next year. It’s one or the other.

It’s been said that Scott’s upcoming epic is eyeing next year’s Cannes with a summer release date soon after, but I just can’t see Scorsese’s film also going that route, sorry Deadline.

Apple has these three giant movies, and they haven't officially decided yet what to do with any of them (as far as release dates go), is what it boils down to.

"Emancipation" appears the only one that's finished, but then it has the 'everybody's still mad at Will Smith' stigma attached to it, right now.

"Killers of the Flower Moon" and "Napoleon" aren't completed, yet.

If I had to wager, I'd say "Napoleon" will be completed before "Killers" will.

If they all three get bumped until next year, what will Apple have this year?

Yes, I heard yesterday that the 'source' of the entire speculation about the 2023 delay and Cannes came solely from this one quote from Alberto Barbera (festival chief at Venice): "It's far from ready. Probably Cannes or Venice next year."

So, again, we simply don't know ANYTHING for certain, at this point, until Apple themselves actually formally announce something, which they won't do until they see how it goes with Scorsese over the next few weeks/months.

Friedman is wrong about a few items in that article, especially, "Cannes can't program such a long film". Cannes has shown plenty of very long films.

Anyway, I remember people jumping the gun and talking about "Silence" being 3 hours and 15 minutes (before it was finished), and it ended up being 2 hours and 39 minutes. (Friedman does allude to this).
