I laughed so hard at this. Sad part is, I'm out of likes! Consider your above post 'liked' by me. |

![]() It wasn’t a slight. The debate was “cheese” or “life” and I ask why it can’t be both. Sometimes life can be cheesy. Genuine sentiment and sap can occupy the same space. |

I'm not sure if I put Superman as the best CBM of all time but it's right up there. One thing I give it major kudos for is it's the only movie I watch where I sit through the end credits every single time because the score is so great. The instrumental version of "Can You Read My Mind" to end the movie is magical.

Chaplin was a friend of Walt Disney, gave Walt all sorts of hard-earned wisdom, such as telling Walt to make sure to own his films (which has become maybe the greatest advice a veteran filmmaker gave to a 20-year-old filmmaker, ever). Chaplin was a sort of hero figure to Walt, and he listened. One of his most important lessons (later attributed to Walt, but it came from studying CHaplin's films) -- for every laugh, you need to have some tears, meaning a film had to present the full range of emotions. Joy, fright, mirth, even rage. You get all that in Chaplin's films. That's also what Donner's Superman film does -- it's a full buffet of emotion, it has it all, including some romance cheese.

Make dinner, pour some wine, watch Superman, hold her hand, tell her the John Williams/Richard Donner story how the music actually says, "SUPERMAN!"...look at her and let her know you love her just by your expression...seriously, that's going to be a great date night.

I just finished watching Chuck, and season 4 featured Timothy Dalton as Alexi Volkoff a very humorous and menacing arms dealer with ties to Chuck's family. He just a delight, playing against the suave and sophisticated Bond type spy he's best known for. When you have a character who kills subordinates for disappointing him, and then later on boast that his ship has some of the most advanced weaponry and security money can buy, as well as an old fashioned ice cream parlor, you are in for a rousing good time.
