A person that believes Superman to be an Avenger or thinks that Deadpool is Spider-Man and the X-Men films take place in the MCU? Do they not watch Agents of Shield or the Netflix shows?

What exactly is it that makes them classified as “casual?”

Because if they’re introduction to Scarlet Witch and Vision were Age of Ultron, I’m sure they’ve watched Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame; meaning they are versed in the specific characters existence and backstory, and shouldn’t have an issue with getting invested into watching WandaVision.

Let’s not forget this is the MCU. They made a blockbuster out of some space opera film that featured a talking tree and raccoon. I think after successes of other “far out” Marvel properties, it allows them to make riskier content more mainstream for their fan base.
Yeah the 4 Avengers and Civil War which are gonna be the most watched of any of the movies anyway are All you need. I don't understand anyone who likes marvel movies even casually not being caught up already.

Some of the reactions reminds me of the time when Better Call Saul released. People complained that it was a slow burn and didn't tie up to the Breaking Bad universe right away.

That’s because they’re impatient.

I'm interested in what happens next and what is really going on, I think previous mentions in this thread of
[Show spoiler]Agatha Hawkins
are correct

. As for the parody of 50s/60s shows, it was spot on. I especially liked how nobody could tell Vision what the company did.

I just love and hate journalism. I saw too many articles about the first two episodes of WandaVision and about "What does this mean for the MCU?" "Where does WandaVision fit?" "Review of WandaVision!"
Like jesus christ! Chill out! Wait a few weeks dear god.

I didn’t purchase a Disney+ subscription until months after its initial release. I was skeptical of The Mandalorian, as all I heard about was baby Yoda. OK, the show has a baby, but is the actual show any good? When I finally started watching it, I was hooked from the opening scene. The first two seasons so far, have been fantastic.

For WandaVision, I struggled to find the purpose to a TV show before it even began, where one of the two main characters was already killed off in a supposedly tied universe. I at least wanted some back story in the first two episodes as to why the show exists. Instead, we get 27 and 34 minute episodes of a TV show, within a TV show based on shows from the 50’s and 60’s. That’s fine to use that format, but please give more than just seconds to try to tie into the MCU. And I don’t think a toaster with the Stark name or a Hydra watch qualify as making an MCU connection. Is it wrong to want just about 3 minutes of time devoted to reality, as we know the TV sitcom aspect is purely imaginative and doesn’t necessarily help push the narrative forward?

I understand laugh tracks were used in the 50’s and 60’s TV shows. I just found the one used here to be too loud and I sometimes had a hard time hearing the dialogue. I watched this with my family, and if somethings funny, you’ll find us all laughing. I think my wife laughed maybe 3 times, while I don’t recall my kids or myself laughing once during those first two episodes. We did notice the easter eggs, including the Sokovia building in episode 2, where the room went from black and white to color.

I will watch the rest of the season. However, if the remaining episodes use the same format, with only seconds hinting at a reality, then I’m glad we are only getting one episode per week. I couldn’t imagine bing watching this if something doesn’t change.

I agree, it's so wonderfully off the wall - folk are so accumulated to the shit on the major networks, that anything that is so out of the box, they get their panties all in a knot ... if they bothered to watch the first two episodes, they know that at the end of the second episode
[Show spoiler]it's breaking out from the 'TV' world to something completely different

We're 2 episodes into the 9 episode series and people are complaining that they haven't revealed enough of what's truly going on yet. If this was a 2 hour movie, we'd only be 26 minutes in. Patience has truly been stamped out by binge culture.

I'm pretty sure that you mean acclimated. Then again, I've accumulated thousands of hours of time in front of the TV.

Yeah, I am reminded a lot about the Mandalorian discussions that went on during the earlier part of the last season. I think the main issue right now is that there is so little new content out there that this hyper-focus on the "one new pop culture thing of the moment" is making a lot of outlets desperate for clicks and bleeding one topic way too dry.

The reception among fans also seems similar to Mandalorian - in that I think some people are getting way ahead of themselves in some of the criticism. Again, though, I think a lot of that is driven by just so little content coming out and some people feeling like "if this is all we are getting right now, it should be fulfilling all my desires instantly".

Personally, I think the show is charming as hell, and I look forward to more. I almost wish they hadn't publicized the hell out of it so more of it was a surprise (like, the going from one sitcom era to the next, we already know the next is Brady-esque, then Family Ties, etc.). That said, I do see why as the big first MCU content on Disney+ they sold it the way they did, so people knew not to expect some big action show.

As to where it's going - darned if I know, and honestly - I'm just great with that. With the Marvel stuff, I'm pretty open - I grew up a Batman/DC kid, so I don't know the universe that well except for the animated 80's/90's stuff. So I don't have the deep investment some do - in a lot of ways, that makes me easier to please.

Oh, and how nice was it to see
[Show spoiler]Emma Caulfield
!! I hope that wasn't her only appearance on the show.

Give it time man. Besides, you’ve had four movies featuring the two. That’s enough of a backstory. Let alone the 15 minute Legends ‘recap.’
