At a glance, the Plaion is miles ahead of any others, even just from the colour alone. However, there are other things it does better: it's grainier and the problems that both the US and UK releases suffer from with respect to automated dirt and scratch removal (such as the periodically disappearing and reappearing birds in the sky on that one shot of the house) are either absent or significantly less problematic.

The UK one looks like they tried to un-ruin some of the mess of the US 1080p disc but with very limited success, whereas the German disc actually looks like a redo (I think same source but just not working backwards from previous mistakes). It's cropped differently as well, with more image on the top but less on the bottom.

Just to add, Plaion's Flesh for Frankenstein UHD is now out too (I got mine from Amazon.de), and the colour also looks much better to my eye than the Vinegar Syndrome, even the corrected version. It also has all of the extras of the Vinegar Syndrome disc, plus the Criterion commentary, and a 40-minute German-language Udo Kier interview covering both films.

I was recently talking about some of Vinegar Syndrome's grades not being up quite to par, and said I wished that Arrow would have done some additional grading work on TCM 2 like Turbine did for their own UHD. Unless VS are stipulating that their grades can't be altered (which I doubt), then I think it's a bit of a missed opportunity for other labels to not make their own adjustments for their own releases.

Some seem to use post houses who tend to do fantastic jobs (some of the best grading work I've ever seen on home video), but a number of labels seem to have their own unique grading problems. Not that it's disastrous (and I really like the UHDs of The Tenant and eXistenZ for example) but when this is a premium format then you'd expect a more consistent and professional-looking end result.
