I was referring after Mortal Kombat. They may have had backlash due to Mortal Kombat not being released in 3D they may have demanded that unfinished or not willing to release in 3D worldwide to not be listed as work made by anyone or any corporation. Much like a non-disclosure agreement.

WB has been a big disappointment of late, especially this year, forgoing 3D conversions for previously established 3D franchises, Dune: Part Two and Furiosa. Piece by Piece is another that would have been in 3D not long ago. I think they are in cost-cutting mode, slashing anything superfluous, as opposed to converting their entire blockbuster slate for posterity but keeping it in the vault like Pixar and silencing DNEG to secrecy with a never-ending NDA. Really, you could say the entire industry is in cost-cutting mode this year due to the writers' strike. You could name several blockbusters from every major studio that should've-would've-could've been in 3D.

I'm not sure what happened with Mortal Kombat. I know studio lawyers find crazy ways to twist budgets to get better tax write-offs, but I can't imagine it being cost-efficient to continue converting films and never reaping the ticket premiums by releasing flat.

If you were following the thread you'd have seen that the reference was to Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

However, the two are most definitely NOT comparable as Venom: Let There Be Carnage was released theatrically in 3D by Sony and Dune: Part Two was not even converted to 3D by Warners.

True words, but there are also selfish people that are willing to do everything they can to have something that others can't just to feel superior. But I understand your point.

Just for clarification here Piece By Piece is from Focus Features which belongs to Universal/comcast family.

Yeah can’t wait either its gonna be glorious to finally have these on 3D and i wonder if Fallout will have the expanded IMAX scenes on the disc that would be extra special to get on 3D Blu-Ray

For some it's the opposite, they won't buy in 2D, but they will buy in 3D, for the 3D experience.

To each their own though, sorry you didn't see anything here worth anticipating!
Friday the 13th III is in 3D but Scream and Fallout are 2D movies so I can see why he doesn't want to upgrade.

They are 3-D movies (converted, but still released in theatres in 3-D, so they’re 3-D movies), and the conversion for Fallout is excellent and I wouldn’t want to watch it any other way; can’t vouch for the Scream flick.

I already own fallout in 4k but will be happy to buy it in 3D. I've no interest in Scream or other movies like it.

I gotta say the turbulence at Paramount has me worried about these. Hoping Turbine announces something official soon.

edit: I guess they saw my post and decided to announce some

Wave 2 is there!

- Mission Impossible: Fallout
- Migration
- Dolittle

Press Release:

Finally more 3D! The TURBINE COLLECTOR SERIES enters the next round!
The successful launch of the Turbine Collector Series has shown: Blu-ray 3D is not dead! That’s why the series is entering its second round on October 31 with two world premieres!

#04
Tom Cruise at his best as Ethan Hunt: MISSION IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT is packed with spectacular Locations and breathtaking stunts. Ethan and his IMF team (Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson) are forced to become reluctant partners with a hard-hitting CIA agent (Henry Cavill). The blockbuster celebrates its world premiere on Blu-ray 3D with two sequences in IMAX format (HALO jump and helicopter chase) and highly explosive Dolby Atmos tracks in German and English.

#05
In 2023 Illumination, the ingenious animation studio behind DESPICABLE ME and the Minions, delivered a box office hit for the whole family: MIGRATION is an adventure filled with Illumination’s signature subversive humor, authentic heart and unforgettable characters. It’s also celebrating its world premiere on Blu-ray 3D with Dolby Atmos in German and English from Turbine. As in the cinema, the Minions short film MOONED is also included in 3D.

#06
Robert Downey Jr. electrifies one of literature’s most enduring characters in a vivid reimagining of the classic tale of the man who could talk to animals: DOLITTLE. He is forced to set sail on an epic adventure his furry and feathered patients to a mythical island, crossing old adversaries and discovering wondrous creatures. The fantastic journey really gets going on Blu-ray 3D with Dolby Atmos in German and English.

Preorders start NOW exclusively at Turbine-Shop.de. A bundle with all three films is available at a discounted price.

The discs are region code free and can be played worldwide.
All editions have a reversible sleeve with the original title on the back.

I can't even describe how excited I am for Mission Impossible: Fallout!

Will be pre-ordering now, definitely Fallout and Migration since I already have RSM's Dolittle, but I will check out the bundle as well, if nothing else Dolittle might add some protection in the package for the other two

Edit: Pre-ordered!

VERY EXCITED!

I pre-ordered MI & Migration. I already have Doolittle.

For what it's worth, Doolittle is a good movie and worth having/seeing if you are a 3D fan. I am glad it is in my collection. Fun.

Not sure what the roadmap is for the next ones, and maybe it is too soon to think about that, but I suspect that 3D films that were never released commercially in the US will get the biggest immediate response from members here. That is just my opinion; a lot of us scoured sites around the world to get things not released here in the States already...

Ordered both Migration and Mission Impossible Fallout. Very very excited to get both of these on 3D blu ray. I saw Migration in the theater last Christmas and was very impressed with the 3D as well as the story, and of course Fallout is a film we've all been waiting years for. Like everyone else I am incredibly grateful to Turbine!

The US has nothing to do with it. These days nothing 3D is generally released anywhere except Japan and Germany, with only a few exceptions. Obviously unreleased titles will do better than previously released ones so US buyers are a big market but if Turbine were to start putting out Region B editions of titles only released in Region A I dare say that those would do quite well too.
