If the guy apologized, it should be the end of the story. I've lost some respect for him, but I'm sure he's not losing any sleep over that.
I assume everything is alright since the DP and him are both still working on the project. Or at least, I assume the DP didn't get fired.

As for "respect," I've learned not to put celebrities on a pedestal. They are there solely for my entertainment. This rant to me was hilarious and the YouTube remix is even funnier. Yeah, he's an a-hole but it's entertaining.

I think by definition it is "unprofessional" to yell and scream and swear.

For shits and giggles, check out the definition here: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/unprofessional

Neither one of them acted in a professional manner. The DP was doing this multiple times throughout the day. As Bale said, he'd never had a DP behave like that before. Bale's rant was uncalled for, but hilarious nonetheless.

Although he might be a jerk in life I don't pay to see his personality I pay to see his acting ability, which so far has been pretty good.

Hm. His dedication is commendable. His acting range and ability, not so much.

I've seen him play:

- A yuppie serial killer
- An insomniac, starving machinist
- A veteran with post-combat stress syndrome and severe anger issues
- A chiroptophobic masked millionaire vigilante
- An illusionist who, for the sake of his magic trick... (I'll spare you the details)

The most 'normal' character I've seen him play was the crippled farmer in 3:10 to Yuma. And that was a little extreme as well.

I much prefer Philip Seymour Hoffman.

New story revealed that sheds more light on Bale's "attack":
Credit goes to Ain't it Cool News

Quote:
The DP on TERMINATOR SALVATION, Shane Hurlbut, is a apparently a light tweaker. He's a fairly young DP and likes to fiddle with his lights on set during action, which is a big "NO NO" on most productions unless worked out in advance with performers. But apparently Shane was a pretty unrepentant light tweaker.

The scene in question, was a very emotional and tough scene between Christian Bale and Bryce Howard. A scene that required soul bearing and a deep level of immersive concentration. The sort of scene where everyone on set knows not to get in anyone's eye lines, and definitely not to move lights around while FILMING. You lock that shit down before the scene starts.

Bale had indeed warned the DP on multiple occasions about messing with lights while the cameras were rolling, and Bale was in the midst of a painful scene with Bryce, what was described to me as being the emotional center of the film and his character for the film.
This article is not a reflection of my opinion, which I've already shared in previous posts. Just wanted to relay the story with everyone in case it hadn't been published here yet.

...hanging out in cushy trailers, getting amazing food all day long, being surrounded by beautiful women (or men if that's your thing), everyone kissing your ass, and being universally adored.

He's right about one thing -- it's nowhere near a "normal" job. Not in the slightest.

Well, an inside source said that the DP was a jerk to begin with...that he was always berating his team and everyone on the set hated him...Bale just had enough and was the only one with the gumption to tell him off....

Just what I heard...

For those of you with the nerve to defend Bale's actions..... I wonder if you'd still have those opinions had that been one of your relatives he was cursing out.

I'm not gonna boycott his movies or anything, because with all the A-holes in Hollywood I'd have to miss almost every movie. But the guy is a dooche bag.... plain and simple.

No one is defending him per say, what most people are saying is that what happen can be a very human reaction, some tired, stress, someone who does have trouble keeping emotion in check and probably with some anger problem.

Are you saying that you never lost patient? Never were stress at work and lost it? No one in your family ever drove you crazy and just snap for a few minutes? Then I have to admire you, you are a wonderful person.

I am not saying what he did was right, what he did was human, most likely a very tired human, stress with very likely other problems that are causing some serious effect on him. Just because he's an actor with a mansion, cars, looks, money and babes does not mean that he will be happy. We don't know what other problems he is battling inside of him. Some seek help from friends or a doctors, other fight their problems with medication, alcohol, drugs, just like every other person on this planet.

Sorry - no sympathy from me on that front.

Try 14-16 hour days 6 to 7 days a week, with motors hitting your location every night and working the front gate in Iraq hoping no one blows themselves up on your watch and missing your child's birth cause you're in BFE.

I don't really care about his outburst (unprofessional, to be sure, but as long as it's not a common thing, I think everyone is entitled to "loosing it" once in a very great while) - but the "I work long hours" doesn't float here.

Incorrect. He's not as good as Hoffman but he's definitely good. Very few people ARE as good as Hoffman.

This is a normal day in Hollywood and on a high profile set. Hollywood has lot's and lot's of HUGE egos. This just happened to get leaked. If you can't handle it, do not work on a film set, work in banking or something. Seriously.

uh, no offense to you but just because you haven't heard of them or don't think they look like a trusted resource doesn't mean they're not reputable. i work in the film industry and I know AICN is straight. yes they report rumors as well, but when they do they clearly identify them as rumors. just an fyi
