Do you rate the films as you log them? Or is that just me?

Is this your idea of saving money?

Even with my massive collection of TV shows on disc I'm spending less than you on them and I get the added benefit of being absolutely certain that none of them can ever be removed or modified. I'd wager that you're also spending quite a bit more on your internet service than I am in order to have the bandwidth for all that streaming.

I spend $39.99 for my Internet service thanks to the Federal subsidy they put in place during the pandemic. I also have speeds of 300mbps. It's fine. I also save money by not going out of pocket for things that I can easily stream. I don't feel the need to own everything that comes out on disc. I know myself and I don't re-watch tv shows as much as I do individual films. If I need to re-watch a show I will see where it's streaming and go from there. The money I would have spent on a show can no be redirected to something else, or saved just as well.

I actually save money and leverage it. I stand by what I originally said.

The market has made it virtually impossible to collect tv that has multiple series. Two recent examples are AHS: 1984 and Killing Eve. What is the point of owning two series of Killing Eve when I can’t buy the next series?

Same with owning several series of AHS. They are all related to make it worse. Like I say, just mini series and one off shows for me.

The $100-$120 per month you spend on streaming subscriptions isn't out of pocket?

I'm sick of people saying that they are saving money by watching shows for "free" on the expensive streaming or cable subscriptions that they subscribe to.

Don't use the features of this site myself but I believe it has several options for keeping up with Wishlist, Viewed, etc. The Export tool seems to only export the UPC.

Been using Movie Collector and Music Collector for many years. When I started it was one of the very few media databases that could use a bar code scanner. Another feature was the control of storage carousels (here), select desired title in Movie Collector and out pops the disc. These could be daisy chained to create a fairly large storage. Looked interesting at the time but I never bought into it.

Assuming Last Kingdom on Blu-ray is $25 per season. That's $100+ plus sales tax. They are all on Netflix. I pay $16 - $17 per month for the Netflix service. Lets say I watch all four seasons within the month. Am I not saving money if I decide not to buy them on BD? Really? Subtract the Netflix subscription price for the month and those are my savings. And that's just for Netflix. We can add up all of my subscriptions that I pay for, divide them per month and I would still come out ahead because I watch a lot of content (film/tv) per month. Throw in the Internet connection, as well, and I still come out ahead.

I'm sick of people who don't understand the art of leverage.

Come on guys, you both support disc and that's what matters to most of us here. Disc, EST, TV's are not necessities, they are luxuries as such one person telling another how they should spend or not spend will never sit well with the other.

I pay about $1000 per year for TV shows on disc. By your own admission you pay $1200-$1444 per year for your streaming subscriptions.

Additionally if I didn't care about owning most of the TV shows I watch then I could easily cut my costs by more than half by selling them after I finished watching them.

What matters the most to me is supporting TV shows on disc. Movies on disc are not struggling in the slightest.

Where what you said gets trick is others. I remember many years ago I was not at home and my BIL wanted to borrow Cowboys & Aliens he called me back and asked "where is it" to which I replied "look in Western", he was looking for it in sci-fi.
So is Terminator in sci-fi or horror?

Understood but owning TV on disc is just not that important to us either, most of it is a one time view. That viewing comes via Netflix disc by mail. What we call the really good stuff that is worth repeat viewings does warrant purchase. Planet Earth, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and others have been purchased. Just finished Yellowstone season three, really like it but would not watch again. Different strokes

My Word Document lists work fine for me and they don't cost me $29.95 per year like your Movie Collector software does. The software you use looks very nice, but the main reason for my lists are just to avoid buying duplicates. I'd rather use that $29.95 to buy a 4K disc.

I do not assign ratings because my opinions are subject to change. Also, if it's in my collection it is generally safe for me to assume that I like it at least on some level.

I previously used the collection features on this site but now I just have a folder full of jpgs of the covers on my PC. It's much faster than scrolling through the pages on this website and I can easily pick out a random movie my dragging and dropping them all into VLC and clicking on shuffle.

I'm sorry if my bringing up the availability of The Last Kingdom on blu-ray has made you feel as if you are on trial. I brought it up because I thought that you might want to own it on blu-ray after you said how much you liked it.

I gave my reasons for doing what I do and you gave your reasons for doing what you do. I am happy with my choices and you are happy with yours and that's all that matters.
