Nice! We're blocked from taking vacation. November 15 through to New Year's Eve. I'm taking a week right after!

I have 3 weeks of vacation and then I buy a week each year to make it 4 weeks. A few more years I'll automatically get 4 weeks of vacation and then I'll continue to buy a week to make it 5.

I can't take Christmas week off because I'm at the bottom of the seniority list as far as years in service. So the closest week I can get is usually the 1st or 2nd week of December.

I was listening to the radio while at work and heard that the Deh Cho Bridge opened this afternoon. The Deh Cho Bridge spans the Mackenzie River, which is the 2nd largest in North America, about 300 kms S.W. of my Hometown. It started me thinking about the end of an era. Our town and various communities around us relied on a ferry in the summer and an ice road in the winter to get ALL of our goods to us. There were lots of times when fuel or groceries would get in low supply because of low water or the ice not breaking up in time. People and stores anticipated break-up and freeze-up of the River and stockpiled supplies.

I dunno. It seems like I'm kind of sad. We had a bit of Frontier in us because we "weren't connected" with The South and now that is over.
