Yep. Check this out. These are the net profit figures for NCAA football in 2008 season in $millions.

http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/201...tead-of-trees/

1 Texas $65.02 Big 12
2 Georgia $45.38 SEC
3 Florida $43.29 SEC
4 Penn State $42.63 Big Ten
5 LSU $39.12 SEC
6 Notre Dame $38.18 Independent
7 Alabama $38.16 SEC
8 Nebraska $37.29 Big 12
9 South Carolina $37.23 SEC
10 Ohio State $35.89 Big Ten

Wayyyyyy on down the list is...

58 Maryland $2.26 ACC

That means Maryland is the 8th worst BCS conference team in generating profits. Even 7 non-BCS schools raked in more than Maryland football.

Not good at all considering you ideally want your football program to generate enough surplus to fund your school's other sports that lose large amounts of cash. Though I'm sure Maryland's basketball team fares better.

Watching Anderson in this press conference is making me so mad... I think I'd be kicked out of school had I been allowed in that room.

lmao Anderson is actually trying to sell him to us; "As a db coach helped take an expansion team in the Jaguars to the playoffs in just 3 years", "In 2007 he had the highest graduation rates of African American athletes"

lol Edsall over and over dream job, dream job, "I went to a football game in the 70s and I went to Lefty Driesell's basketball camps as a kid"

YET YOU WENT TO SYRACUSE!!!!!!

Anderson continues to give it away every time he opens his mouth graduation, academics

Just like I thought not 1 second on College Football Live... I have no doubt had Leach been hired they'd have opened with him. (20 minutes in finally get a small segment)

Quote:
whose team has a graduation rate of 79 percent, eighth best in the country and first in the Big 12 Conference. He trails only Notre Dame (94 percent), Stanford (93), Boston College (92), Duke (92), Northwestern (92), Vanderbilt (91) and Wake Forest (83) in turning out grads, while he also has made nine bowl appearances in nine years.
Edsall was only 90% so really 11% matters that much

I seem to remember a similar vexation when a school hired a coach that went 5-19 in his previous job at a nothing program. Said school is playing for the national championship in a few days.

Said school is quarterbacked by a player that per NCAA rules shouldn't be eligible but the NCAA decided to ignore the rules regarding parents as agents so they wouldn't have to put a non-AQ school in the title game.

lol not to mention he's the best player in CF . We'll see how Auburn does when he leaves. Not to mention UMD would have to string at least two 11-win seasons and bcs bowl game wins together before they'd even be in the picture to be allowed to compete for a NC (oh and then they'd probably have to go undefeated after all that just to make it to the NC)

Chizik, or however you spell his name, is probably an average coach at best. He was just the fortunate beneficiary of getting (buying?) a player in Cam Newton who had a better year than Tim Tebow ever did, both statistically and in wins. Auburn will probably go back to being a mid-level 7-5 type of SEC school the second Newton declares for the draft.

just so we get the facts right can't slight Tebow and his 2007 stats

Quote:
Touchdown Totals

Cam Newton in 13 games put up 28 passing TDs, 20 rushing TDs and 1 receiving TD for a total of 49 touchdowns
Tim Tebow in 12 games put up 32 passing TDs, 23 rushing TDs for a total of 55 touchdowns
Truly an astonishing total of touchdowns in 2007 for Tim Tebow – Cam Newton got the extra game with the SEC Championship Game against South Carolina.

Rushing Yards

Cam Newton: 1409 total yards on the ground or 108.4 yards/game
Tim Tebow: 895 total yards on the ground or 68.8 yards/game
This is where Cam Newton overtook Tebow – the yardage on the ground.

Passing Yards

Cam Newton: 2589 total passing yards or 199.2 yards/game
Tim Tebow: 3286 total passing yards or 252.8 yards/game
Total Yards

Cam Newton: 307.5 yards/game
Tim Tebow: 321.6 yards/game

Final Yards Pass/Rush
Newton= 3,998
Tebow= 4,181
Tebow =

Tebow =
And if Cam leads Auburn to the national title Auburn will finish 14-0. Tebow never went undefeated at UF. And as for Tebow in 2007 the Gators were what, 9-4 and lost their Bowl game to Michigan? Not trying to take away from Tebow but I do think Cam is putting up the greatest individual season of any QB in my lifetime. Though guys liek Tebow, Vince Young and Tommie Frazier were close. Of course if Cam and Auburn flop in the title game it all goes out the window.

True they didn't go undefeated I'm just making sure we get the QB to QB numbers right Can't have people thinking Tebow is worse

Oh funny Edsall stat 597-264 how much he's been outscored vs. ranked teams 2.2:1 ratio

Ah, back when my Wolverines were relevant.

I'm really hoping Jim Harbaugh comes to turn things around.

Some of these big dollar coach signings just make me scratch my head. There have been countless times where a school talked up a coach far too much for only having one or two good seasons. I think that's the case with Ebsall.

That also seemed to be the case with Pitt hiring Mike Haywood who had one decent year at Miami (OH) but only a crappy 10-15 overall record there. Thankfully for Pitt the guy beat up his girlfriend on New Years so they could fie him and find someone better.

Ironically the same year they beat Tebow and the Gators in a Bowl game they also lost to Appalachian St. I remember just about all Michigan fans wanting to get rid of Lloyd Carr at that time, which they did. Nowadays the Lloyd Carr era must seem like the good ol days of Michigan football thanks to what Rich Rod did to the program.

Michigan needs to get back to the early Carr era at Michigan (circa 1997) when they won a national championship with balanced offense and great defense.

While Newton has put up stats that almost seem unmatchable, the problem is he's always going to be tainted. Everyone will always remember his great year, but they will also remember the NCAA investigation. In all honesty, I don't know how he is able to still be playing. Neither should all those Ohio State players, I guess the almighty dollar is more important than ethics, morals, and following the rules. I would rank Tebow, Frazier, and Young above Newton just because they have a clean image surrounding their college careers. Newton is an incredible athlete, but for me there is an asterisk next to his stats this season.

I agree that Newton will always have that cloud hanging over his college career. And it's a near certainty that his major college career will be limited to this one season. So obviously he won't get the kind of comparisons to Tebow, Frazier or Young that he might have gotten had he been a great 2 or 3 year starter. It's pretty obvious he'll take the NFL money and run come Jan 11th.

Not sure on college level talent. But here are some stats on where NFL talent comes from. As you would expect the southeast is heavily overrepresented, especially Florida and Texas.

http://www.midwestsportsfans.com/201...st-nfl-talent/

STATES WITH MOST NFL PLAYERS

California 211
Texas 181
Florida 177
Ohio 85
Georgia 80
Louisiana 68
Pennsylvania 56
New Jersey 55
Michigan 53
Alabama 50
Virginia 50
South Carolina 46

And most of the top cities on this list are likewise in the southeast.

HOMETOWNS WITH MOST NFL PLAYERS

Houston 24
Miami 22
Los Angeles 20
Detroit 15
New Orleans 15
Dallas 12
Jacksonville 12

Check out this. It's practically a list of ex-Confederate states.

STATES WITH MOST NFL PLAYERS PER CAPITA

State Players Per Capita
Louisiana 1 NFL per 65,720 people
Mississippi 1 NFL per 76,883 people
Hawaii 1 NFL per 80,769 people
District of Columbia 1 NFL per 81,723 people
South Carolina 1 NFL per 87,218 people
Alabama 1 NFL per 88,942 people
Florida 1 NFL per 90,296 people
Georgia 1 NFL per 102,331 people
Texas 1 NFL per 115,843 people
Montana 1 NFL per 128,885 people
United States 1 NFL player per 165,933 people

Many of the west coast college teams stockpile American Samoa athletes on their squads. Troy Polamalu is probably the most famous player of Samoan descent.

Pennsylvania is still a terrific hotbed of High School football talent. A school in PA tops the list of most NFL players from the same HS.

Woodland Hills High School, Pittsburgh, PA - 6 players
Steve Breaston, ARZ; Rob Gronkowski, NE; Ryan Mundy, PIT; Lousaka Polite, MIA; Shawntae Spencer, SF; Jason Taylor, NYJ

Yeah I remember that story lol but you can't argue with people who won't acknowledge fact when they know they're wrong.
