I know I have too much premium content to watch any ad supported content.

No AVOD for me, thankfully.

(I do still watch some football but I am fond of the highlights instead of the games because they are free and faster and every play is a winner. So there are a few ads for when I do that and I mute them but that's about it.)

But then again, maybe they're on to something with those cheap TVs? My $3250 Sony is little more than hot garbage, but lest I digress into another I'd better stop here.

By using both physical media and streaming I have access to more content than you ever will. I own most of the shows that I actually care enough about to rewatch and these are immune to being edited by streaming services that wish to appease the hyper sensitive, offended by everything, outrage-aholics that pervade our society today.

And just like a buffet, all these choices exist to satisfy all types of people. Be pretty depressing if you went to a buffet and all you had were 5 choices instead of 100.

One man's junk is another man's treasure.

I'm all for choice; it is why I avail myself of so many viewing options and why I do not arbitrarily limit myself. Still, do not confuse the quantity of those choices with quality. I would rather have 1000 quality choices than 100,000 servings of mind numbing mediocrity.

I'm also kind of partial to owning content that is not subject to being edited every time a studio or streaming executive gets frightened by public opinion.

That would be subjective

So when was the last time that happened? Recently - like the last 3 months?

And where did I say otherwise? Lest someone confuses the issue, artistic quality is ALWAYS subjective. I just prefer that I not have to sift through so much forgettable filler to find the rare memorable (for the right reasons) show.

The fact that it happens at all is the entire point. What show was the most recent victim is irrelevant. I want the shows that I watch to be intact and to remain that way.

I realize that most people do not care so long as they get a bargain, getting a bargain overrides all other considerations for so many people, but this is allegedly an enthusiast website and regardless of whether our chosen content is accessed digitally or physically, we should all want that content to retain its artistic integrity.

Whatever their reasons, the shows that I actually own do not up and disappear. They are always where I left them, unaltered, and ready to be enjoyed.

I love to collect movies.

I don't like Ads. I know some people who think that going to cheapest route with everything will lead them to riches. But it's false economy.

My neighbor likes a local auto shop and had her car towed over the weekend. She has asked about it today and yesterday and was told they won't look at it for at least 2 weeks. I told her the dealer is right down the street but she said her car is so old it can't handle original parts.

??

You can spend all your time trying to save money but that doesn't appeal to me esp now that I've reached a point of actually having some money.

People are all different.... If I had very different circumstances maybe I would enjoy the ads along with the content. I'm not sure anyone enjoys seeing the same ad for prescription drugs that don't apply to them 4 or 5 times an hour though. They all tell you don't let your atheritis or diabetes or high cholesterol stand in your way basically telling you that you are sick even if you are not.

You can make more money, but try making more time. Our time only lessens, so treat yourself, and the ones that you love, as best you can while you can.

I redbox-ed the Blu Ray of M Knight's OLD for tonight.

Seeing it will give me an idea of how to react when the UHD BD goes on sale.

I believe Crackle was the first AVOD that I tried back in 2004. Could not handle the ads. Too many years with HBO, Showtime and Starz à la carte via DirecTV then Dish. Dumped it all in 2006, added Netflix disc by mail and streaming (at the time included with disc plans). If streamers ever change their method of canceling a sub to make it more difficult then I will dump them as well.
