Wow really? I thought that's almost impossible, especially for brand new titles. I guess I have to check it out myself.

Actually, they're totally different. It's an impossibility for the two to look the same. Thats like saying a 2mb mp3 file (in your iTunes) sounds the same as the Audio CD version of the same song. It's not a fair comparison or assessment if you put in the Blu-ray, then take it out, then put in the DVD for comparison. Your eyes re-adjust in the time it takes to switch. The only true way to "A/B" something is to 1)have them playing side by side on the same model/brand TV with both TV's having the same settings 2)have a Blu-ray player playing the Blu-ray in one input, and a DVD player playing the DVD in another input, and switched between the two. If you didn’t do either of the two things I've typed, it's not a fair assessment. I’ve been in the audio-video field far too long. Trust me. Here is an example of why spelling is important. The names of the characters all had meanings in regards to their roles in the story. Cobb's late wife was named "Mal".

Also, do not forget in the beginning of the film when they are trying to pull off that heist, and Cobb's wife keeps interfering and getting involved negatively in the mission, due to Cobb unable to control his subconscious in that dream. |

They are able to follow because they are already so deep into the dream levels that if they go any deeper they will end up in limbo anyhow since there is no more constructed dreamspace. Limbo is described as "unconstructed dreamspace." And, since that is a space that is shared as a general space by all in the dreamshare experience, if you go to limbo you will end up in the same limbo as anyone else in the dreamshare as you, regardless of how you get there.
Limbo is EVERYBODY'S dream. NOBODY is populating it! There is nobody else in there but those dreaming + Mal. Cobb's projection of Mal (the representation of his own guilt) is so strong that it is able to penetrate that deep. THAT is how psychologically traumatized Cobb is about feeling his wife's death was his fault. Last edited by Petra_Kalbrain; 01-03-2011 at 11:16 PM. |

Moll Mal, it really did not matter for the question I was responding to. And the majority of people would not know the spelling of her name as it is never made clear in the movie if I remember it correctly (except credits, i could be wrong), so the correct way to spell Moll is how I spelled it, in real life, no self respecting person would ever want their child to be name Mal, as it means bad or ill in French. I do understand the meaning thing you are mentioning and it did occur to me as I was watching the film, nonetheless, even though I spelled it Moll in my head. So it may matter but not as much as for the question I responded to.

As for someone naming their child Mal being something "no self-respecting person would ever name their child?" Who are you to say what anyone else would or would not do? How many people in North America (let alone the world) know that Mal in French means ill or bad? You are obviously ignorant to the fact that many people are ignorant of other cultures and languages. EDIT: IMDB lists the character as named "Mal." So, YOU are wrong in thinking that it is spelled "Moll." Last edited by Petra_Kalbrain; 01-04-2011 at 02:33 AM. |
