That moment when you get back with a nice shopping haul with your tax return/stimulus check dollars, grab a bite to eat and get ready to watch Godzilla vs. Kong on HBO Max the day after getting your 2nd Covid vaccine, only to be "greeted" with this:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() To call my situation an unlucky turn of events would be a Godzilla-sized understatement. |

My ranking
Godzilla: King of the Monsters Godzilla vs Kong Kong: Skull Island Godzilla While I do find Godzilla vs Kong to be superior with its characters (uninteresting but entertaining) and the story was thin as opposed to KOTM's bloated story, I still like KOTM better for it's larger focus on Godzilla and use of other Toho monsters. And as superb the battles in GvK were, they never rose to fangasm levels that Godzilla's nuclear pulse did in KOTM. |

Because CGI is more difficult and expensive then men in rubber suits. We need things to cut away from the action from to pad out runtime and save money. Joking aside After 4 films I thought the budget saving cut arounds are getting really obvious, their not even trying to disguise them anymore. |

Does anyone else feel like the "clear winner" thing really wasn't that clear? I mean, yeah, technically
[Show spoiler] won, but then it was [Show spoiler] who came out on top by being the one that absolutely destroys [Show spoiler] after it almost killed [Show spoiler] .I'm sure there's plenty of variables you can apply here, but this still feels like a [Show spoiler] to me. One did beat the other, but the other came out stronger at the end. If there was a fourth round then things could have gone differently.

The winner was the one I wanted too. And it does establish that in a fair fight between the two of them,
[Show spoiler] would win. But with the way the film ends with [Show spoiler] beating the thing that almost kills [Show spoiler] it does put another spin on things that keeps it from feeling definitive for me. Round three also could have gone differently if [Show spoiler] .But still, too many variables at play, [Show spoiler] .

I think the 2014 Godzilla was pretty good and I thoroughly enjoyed K:SI, but these last two films struck me as little more than Michael Bay or Roland Emmerich apocalyptic movies (to me that’s not a compliment). I totally understand why some people will love this film but it didn’t do it for me. I can totally shut off my brain and enjoy that spectacle for what it is, but the plot was so ridiculous and the characters pretty shallow (I don’t even know what several even added to the narrative); and I was particularly meh on the Kong storyline. I don’t know but that something that makes Godzilla and King Kong movies great seems totally absent to me.
I don’t think this is really a spoiler so...I did wonder how Kyle Chandler’s character not only go to Hong Kong so quickly at the end of the movie but also found himself in the exact same location as Millie Bobby Brown’s character. I also don’t really recall hearing Godzilla’s true classic roar. Maybe I missed it since I sort of checked out after a while. I gave it a generous 2/5. Honestly, I have no idea. She served no real purpose to the story, as far as I could see. Basically, all I could see she was there for was to say "dad, something is triggering Godzilla". When they were setting up for this movie, I thought that MechaG had some of Ghidora's DNA embedded into its exoskeleton as a means of attracting the Kaiju. But, when they revealed the final activation of MechG, I was like "HOLY SHIT". I was blown away and totally not expecting that.

Gave it 3 stars the boat action sequence and the end were outstanding and a few of the moments between the girl and Kong but otherwise I found myself pausing it getting distracted by my phone just not really an engaging movie start to finish like skull island or king of monsters.
Glad I had it on Hbomax |

The family being in the same place has been annoying the entire Legendary Godzilla saga, so I didn't mind that either |
