We got out-coached in the second half. I know Beamer has been here for years, but he's not a National Championship coach. When Stanford was able to stop the run game, Beamer (and Stinespring) were unable to move to a pass-based attached even though our QB and WRs are more than capable. Stanford was able to make adjustments to their offense at half to prevent the Hokie defense from disrupting their momentum (as they did all first half) and once that happened, the game was over.
Blame the coaches on this one. The kids played the first half equally, so with the right coaching, they should have been able to compete in the second half. This trend won't end up Beamer is gone - which won't likely happen any time soon. |

The Detroit Free Press is reporting it's highly unlikely that Jim Harbaugh would accept the Michigan job if it becomes available. They say he will likely decide this week if he wants the Denver Broncos or San Francisco 49ers job or stay at Stanford. If he stays at Stanford it's widely believed that Andrew Luck, consensus #1 pick in the NFL draft, would stay in school for another year.

If the Dolphins want him they'll have to act quick considering they still have a coach and Harbaugh wants to decide on his future this week.

I agree its allot like with most of the acc coaches in the past where they won a bit and were allowed to just stay in their seats without ever really being pushed.

![]() ![]() Updated: Tuesday, 04 Jan 2011, 2:32 PM EST Published : Tuesday, 04 Jan 2011, 2:24 PM EST myFOXdetroit.com Staff - Sources tell Fox 2 that Rich Rodriguez was fired as head coach of the University of Michigan football team Tuesday. The decision came just three days after his team suffered the worst bowl loss in school history, a 52-14 trouncing at the hands of Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl. Rodriguez was 15-22 during three seasons in Ann Arbor. He lost a school-record nine games in his debut with the Wolverines two years ago, was 5-7 after starting 4-0 last season and turned a 5-0 start into a 7-5 finish this fall. The Wolverines were also 1-10 against ranked teams and were 0-3 against rivals Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin during Rodriguezs tenure. Athletic Director David Brandon would not immediately name a replacement. Rumors have swirled that Stanford's Jim Harbaugh, a former Wolverine quarterback, and San Diego States Brady Hoke, a former U-M coach, are on the list of possible candidates. Reports Tuesday said Harbaughs return to Michigan, however, is highly unlikely. He is reportedly deciding on staying at Stanford or pursuing a heading coaching position in the NFL. |

West Virginia's biggest rival Pitt currently has a job opening. Rich Rod has shown he can be successful in the Big East and the recruiting area would be the same as when he was at West Virginia. I wouldn't be shocked if Rich Rod went to Pitt.

I think there's a good chance that happens. Either way Pitt is now in good shape with Leach and Rich Rod both available. Best thing that ever happened to Pitt was their recently hired coach from Miami (OH) getting himself fired.

In non-coaching news, Penn State has denied freshman quarterback Robert Bolden's request for a release from his scholarship. Bolden's father was upset but his mother was glad he wasn't released, saying he should stay at Penn State. Bolden started 8 games for Penn State this year before an injury forced him to miss time, and he then lost his starting job to sophomore Matt McGloin.

Coaches can up and quit on a team to take another job whenever they feel like it but the players cannot transfer or take a nickel for their efforts. That's NCAA football for ya, the biggest pyramid scheme going today.
