Yes the whole series is in 4K. Only the first and newest one have Dolby Vision.

Huh?

I asked if the versions dumped on Disney+ were the same ones as the ones making the Rounds on Apple. So if they were the newer 4k versions instead of the older blu-rays. Disney plus is not the same platform as Apple iTunes as far as I know.

Few older strict Fox HDR10 films are now DV on D+

Studio creates different encodes for every streaming provider i.e. bit rates varies from provider to provider.

I will deep dive on D+ Star tonight and let you know.

So far, MA has the best AV quality amongst the streaming providers for the Die Hard films.

D+ bit rates are usually between 17-28 Mbps. The odd ones peak at 38 Mbps.

The studios don't create the encodes, the streamers do. They're the ones who know what amount of compression they want to use. Same thing with Kaleidescape, they're provided with the uncompressed or maybe ProRes masters and do their own encode of it.

I doubt based on what I am experiencing but you maybe right if all streamers are provided a big fat digital file and they set compression parameters on top.

Why I doubt is if you contact iTunes about issues, they ask you get in touch with the Studio for corrections as they claim they don't manage how it is provisioned in their platform. I have received similar replies from other streamers but sometimes it goes into an endless finger pointing loop.

Anyway, Die Hard is not available yet in D+ (UK). The rest are. Last one in DV. The rest are HDR10.

There are a ton of 10+ Sony movies on Amazon Prime, I don't see your point.

For those who have seen them, are the 4K streams any better than the Blu-rays?
I mean, do they still have grain or they're DNR'd to death? That tend to happen a lot with the low bitrate.
I can't seem to find any review of the 4K streams.

I watched the first one on UHD and the 2nd and 3rd on iTunes. As far as streaming goes, I think they look fantastic, especially the third movie with its mostly daylight cinematography.

He says that. Still, DH4 goes way beyond entertainment into incredible stupidity there. If I, a teenage action fan at the time, who knew nothing about fighter jets, could find the whole scene so ridiculous, then clearly the movie was not doing a good job of convincing viewers of its fiction.

I mean, this isn't freaking Shoot 'Em Up, where anything goes, it's Die Hard.
