I don't think it's a truly bad movie but JJ had nothing to work with from the beginning. I've only seen it once though.

Only seen The Last Jedi once too. Hard to describe the disappointment with that movie.
It felt like watching a parody of a Star Wars movie.
I thought I accidentally stumbled into a secret screening of Spaceballs 2.
I'll give it one thing though, the movie looks great.

There are only three good Star Wars movies and only one of them is great. There's nothing underrated or misunderstood about anything Star Wars. I wish people would let it go and move on.

I sat through the Last Jedi and had zero interest in going further

There are parts of that movie that are great, and it could very easily have been as good as The Force Awakens (which I like but it still didn't really get me there), but somebody went crazy at the control panel and crashed that flaming space wreck into a flaming garbage planet

Let me die wondering how good the last installment in the main Star Wars story "actually" is. My old friend who likes every movie ever made told me never to watch it. That's warning enough for me!

Empire is a great movie and Star Wars is a great movie.

I'm not a Star Wars fanboy but if I'd watched it at the cinema in the 70s in my single digits it would have blown me the **** away.

Prequel hate is aging well as milk, especially when the "criticisms" can be applied to the Originals. But hey, nostalgia and popularity there protects them from nerd rage lol.

If nostalgia is driving your appreciation for the prequels then this argument couldn't possibly be more hypocritical

Not really considering growing up, I hated the prequels like everyone else LOL.

Wasn't until revisiting them later on that I found myself liking the films more and more.

That's cool, I think I'm going to give it another year or two. At this point Phantom Menace will be kind of nostalgic for me because I was so excited for it that I lived in denial about it for a month after it opened. The special editions didn't really sink in as a warning of things to come...

I understand why Lucas did it but I also understand that he would understand why I insist on the original trilogy unaltered. 2 things can be true at the same time!

But there's some good Star Wars stuff out there beyond the OT. That and the passage of time has made me sort of meh over the "main quest" as it were.

It's ironic that Disney has the rights to a film series about people fighting an empire.

I'm stoked to see the Darth Maul showdown again!

As somebody who's spent a long time around sufferers, I think it's one of the best depictions of schizophrenia ever put on film. Probably only Through a Glass Darkly comes close.
