I'm sure there's more ways than that. Maybe that's the only way to do DV with projectors. I haven't looked into that and I don't think any prosumer gear does that currently.

When I recently went to a commercial theater to see No Time To Die I'm sure the image was SDR but thankfully HDR isn't the only thing that makes up a good video presentation. It's just the latest attempt to get people buying new TVs after the curved and 3D models.

I would take projectors over HDR if I had to make the choice. Of course, I'm just biased because I love projectors.

I thought that was a very minor update, but yes that is the current version. You can even enable to the current beta that is available today if you want. tvOS has not seen much in the way of new features since 15.1.

tvOS 15.2 beta 2 (19K5035d) - November 9, 2021

There is no risk to using that with a ATV4K gen 2 device.

I'm on 15.2. I really believe in the latest version of software for everything if only because of security concerns. The apps all get updates for the current OS as well as was already mentioned.

Pretty funny that the dislike has now moved to projectors. I would wager that poster doesn't have a clue what his PQ curve looks like even if he owns a HDR set. I bet most cheaper HDR TV's can not do 1K nits much less 4K nits.

I’m not, I watch on my OLED sometimes.

Which poster are you referring to Wendell?

No consumer display can do 4K nits.

But not on your projector which I assume is in your "real" home theater. Not some living room or bedroom setup.

I prefer SDR to what my current projector does with HDR.

My Panasonic UB 420 converts to SDR BT2020 which is very popular for projector users. I also find my ATV4K converts to HDR to SDR well.

I have a new projector ordered with support for HDR10+ and Frame Adapt HDR (which is another form of tone mapping.) Hope it arrives in time for Xmas. (Not the flagship model from this video though)

Hey Brian, have you read the articles by Kris Deering about using HDR on the JVC projectors? I believe you will be pleased with what it can do.

There is a couple of dance scenes in Flashdance where a strobe is used. Everyone that I have played that scene for will cover their eyes shortly after it starts.

True, but a 4K image is still a 4K image. It’s quite pure. It’s a cinematic experience, no? Especially with Atmos.

Just got in on the Zach Snyder Justice League UHD $9.99 deal that came and went and came back this AM. I wonder if it's any good...I'm willing to risk it for more of Gal Gadot in that Wonder Woman suit. I may even watch WW84 again at some point. (eek)

Watched Finch and Blush and other ATV+ content yesterday. I feel like FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) is going obsolete for me. There's too much worth doing to worry about anything.

Recently, I'm seeing more 1.9:1 content with TV series. My next projector will have lens setting memories and I'll have to think of names for different aspect ratios as I use Siri to control my projector (and theater in general) so suggestions are welcome. I was thinking wide for 2.4 and standard for 1.78 but I don't really have a thought for 1.9 yet.

Edit- Was that the suggestion? ... I like it. I can call them Scope, IMAX, and Standard.

Euro TV series use it with no mention of IMAX. Lots of ATV+ content also uses it.

I just watched a bit of Thor Ragnorok in the IMAX enhanced version and then compared with my UHD BD. The UHD BD is sharper and my preferred version. Without comparing them directly it would be easy to get used to either one.

I just leave mine in 1.78 for 1.90 content. May have to do a setup for 1.90 if we start to see more content in that ratio.

I did a pick up at Best Buy yesterday for $14.99. Early reviews are very positive. Looks like a solid cast along with it being beautifully shot.

All of the "Enhanced by IMAX" stuff is live on Disney+. Shang-Chi goes live tomorrow, I think, or even later tonight.

I just finished watching my copy of V for Vendetta 4K disc and that was a stellar presentation all the way around. It has always had a reference track - on DVD, BD, and now this Atmos track. This was also the only 4K disc I got on sale last week when certain 4K titles were $9.99 on Amazon.

Saw Last Night in Soho on Tuesday. Was a pretty good movie up until the last act. One of the best-sounding movies I've seen in a theater. Thinking of seeing Antlers next week. Usually not a fan of horror movies but the wendigo premise sounds very intriguing.
