Agree, although the third one has its moments and I dont even mind the fourth one. #2 and #5 are worthless though. I never bothered with any of these new apes films. Just don’t care.

Some people love the Apes films. Some people hate them, I'm sure there's an entire spectrum of reactions to the films and their impact on pop culture and the film industry as a whole. Other than the Helena Bonham Carter film, the only time I've reacted to Apes-related culture was during the Jay & Silent Bob parody scene.

Right - classic case of everyone and their Mom saying "you gotta watch this show". So, I tried some episodes. Rather watch a news report about stocks and bonds. Its funnier.

And, I got SO tired of people at work and others always referencing some episode or skit from the show. I used to plug my ears, LOL.

Eh I'm just glad it's been over forever so nobody I know talks about it anymore. Definitive proof that funny is subjective because I never liked it aside from Cosmo Kramer.

I like the first 4 of the originals and 2 out of the modern ones (haven't seen Kingdom). The Burton film can go in the bin though.

Yeah - the first original is the gem of the bunch but I do own 2-4 also on blu-ray. When we do our Apes marathon we do skip #2 since its just bad and hard to sit through. Plus, it doesnt advance the story really. You just can watch #3 since
[Show spoiler]what matters is that Cornelius & Zira end up on Earth and things go from there.

Then, of course #4 works due to that being what leads back into film #1. Its actually a decent movie.

The first half of 2 is essentially a condensed form of 1. It's not good. The second half of 2 is some of my favorite Apes.

Oh I understand English very well, thank you.

"I don't care" is irrelevant, you cannot say 68 is the only good one if you haven't seen them all. If you had said instead of the ones I've seen, 68 is the only good one and I don't care to see the newer ones then you'd be fine.

Still sadly missing out on great movies, but that's normal.

The world of the Original POTA films is much more interesting than the one of the reboots.

What makes it so much more interesting to you? Aren't they basically the same story with modern visuals?

Basically the worldbuilding and culture of the apes in the original. Like how the Scientists and Ape National Assembly work and all that.

I think by the end of this current trilogy we'll start to see that. The "caste" system is already in place with the orangutans being the leaders, chimps the scientists, and gorillas the muscle.

The original was pretty much the end of the story. The newer movies are the start. Neither of them have the same origin though. In Conquest it was a space bourne virus that started the pandemic. Yet that might not even line up with the original movie.

Lets try again: I did not say 1968 was the only good one(that was Cinemaniac) but its the best of the bunch by a good margin. However, I have seen and regularly watch The 3rd and 4th classic films when I do an Apes session. I did see the James Franco "new" Apes movie way back(ther 2011 movie, called Rise, IIRC) and while it was OK I had no interest in going forward.

I also already said I dont care about the new ones. So I should get some forum bling for that, right?

Phew. Glad thats sorted. I see your fan club needed some posts to give thanks too. Nailed it.

"Agree, although...." proceeds to give some props to the other films. The first original is the best one. I stand by that, 100%. The others I mentioned, #3 and #4 are watchable and I do just that.

You can agree with a statement at a high level but add details that explain your position in more detail.

Cool? Excellent.

I saw the first reboot, but didn't bother with the rest. Is it still an allegory for European racism?
