Oh I should ask: Which would be the superior center speaker:

Energy CC-10

or

Energy Center Mini

They both seem to have extremely similar specifications. The CC-10 seems to have slightly worse specs, but in practice I don't know which would be better.

The CC-10 would be the matching center channel and the one you should go with. the Mini, wether the RC-Mini or the Mini-V would not match tone wise exactly, and will not produce sound as deep. But they may have a little better resolution, perhaps.

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well. It looks like the RC-LCR is getting harder to find lately. Doing a google search only turned up one and it is still $650.

I'm still enjoying my RC-10's very much.

Steve, hope you sell you stuff soon. I know what it's like. I still have car audio I'm trying to sell.

Hey miker... I think you need to look at ebay for your center channel, but the RC series in general is a much loved series and people just don't want to get rid of such great equipment like that.

Have you found a job again?

Hey there Steve, yea I remember reading in a post a while back that someone bought one on ebay for around 300 or so. Like you said, not many will part with such a wonderful speaker.

No, still not working since July 8. Had a few prospects but they fell through. I do have one guy that wants to hire me but the Company has a hiring freeze at the moment. Maybe by the 1st of the year they will lift the freeze. Interestingly enough, the Company was bought out by the Company I worked for before, so I will end up working for the same Company again, if I get the job that is.

+1 CC-10 will better match across the Whole front sound stage.

So I paid $400 Canadian for two CF-30's. Okay deal I hope? Basically all I really spent was $300 today, since I got a $100 return which went straight back into the system.

I would've bought used, but I'm in the top percentile of picky people when it comes to purchases. I wish I weren't, since I'd save money that way; but I just can't get the used idea out of my head (stupid, I know).

The price you got is actually very good 400$ for a pair of CF-30, you could not ask for a better price right now for those. Great buy!

Hi Mike, great to see you around, I do feel sorry for you, I hope something works out for you shortly for a job.

As for the RC-LCR I hope you can find a good deal on one of them.

Awesome! Glad to hear that.

As for the person who was asking about the CF-30's and CF-50's:

Comparing my CF-30's at low/mid levels of noise to my dad's CF-50's, it seems as though the CF-30's have about the same lows, mids, and highs.

I think the only difference is the CF-50's are better for a bigger room. However, I haven't broken in my CF-30's yet, so I can't say anything for certain yet.

CF-30 you meant, I know it's confusing Conoisseur Floorstanding, CB stands for Conoisseur Bookshelves and of course CC for Conoisseur Center.

Just wanted to clear things up

I knew I should've grabbed the boxes to look at the number. I was gambling as to whether I got that second letter right

Thanks for the correction.

Now you know what the letters stand for, you wont make that mistake again, quite easy to remember like that.

For sure. I'll be remembering that.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this 4.1 setup a ton more than the 2.1 I had. I'm looking forward to when I can turn this into a 5.1

I've just finished calibrating the system as far as I can before the front right/left speakers have been broken in. It's such an improvement. I am really appreciating the quality of the sound of the RC-Minis coming from the surround right and surround left a lot more than when they were front right/left speakers; they provide an awesome surround sound. And then the CF-30's are absolutely excellent front speakers; I couldn't ask for anything better for the money.

I should ask...

I bought my Pioneer 520-K receiver a week or so back. It was on sale for $280.

However, now the Pioneer 820-K receiver has gone on sale for $320. Aside from the dinky iPod support on the 820-K, it offers the screw-on connectors for the speakers. The 520-K has clip-in connectors for the speaker wire (only the front right/left are screw on, the rest are clip in). The 820-K has all screw-on connectors. Does that have anything to do with the quality of the sound? Or does it matter? Because if it's important, I might dish out an additional $50, and end up returning my 520-K to jump to an 820-K.

Not exactly energy-speaker related, but it's to do with my energy speaker setup :-/ (just wanted to stay in this thread).

its always best to get the most you can from your setup. I don't know how big of an improvement it would be, but if you can move up the chain, its a good idea always.

+1 and it may have other features too, amplification is the same tho.

Paul you could download the owners manual of both and compare from the pioneer Canada Website.

The other thing is that the center is 120$ off, 249 instead of 369$ another good deal right there.

I've checked it all out. There might be technical stuff that's different that they aren't letting me know about (since I don't know why they have different connections for the speakers... clips look cheaper but oh well). But really the only difference is the 820 has built in self speaker calibration features (which I would never use anyway, I do it manually to my liking), and the 820 has built-in iPod connection abilities, and the 820 has an on-screen mode for calibration (which I don't care for).

So I'll stick with my 520 since it's working just fine (even though the front left dial came scratched as all hell... the sound dial is pristine, but the input selection dial came scratched). The main reason I'm not returning it is because I've returned a lot of stuff to Futureshop before in the past. About 6 years ago I returned an iPod on the 30th day to get the next gen up from it which had just shipped in. A year ago I returned z-2300 speakers (logitech) because there was a dint in them, so I got new ones. A year ago I returned a $100 mouse (the salesguy talked me into buying it, telling me I could return it if I wanted to). And I've also returned a couple other things. All at futureshop! Hahaha. So I feel like being a good person and being content with what works... rather than being a menace again, and returning something and spending $50 more for an upgrade just for peace of mind. Especially since what I've got is an awesome product, and I never would've thought of upgrading if I hadn't been doing tons of googling up reviews.

Thanks BigAl, glad to see you and Steve are still keeping this thread alive and helping us newbies out.

Maybe one day an RC-LCR will come along, but in the mean time my Infinity center and rears actually sound pretty good with my RC-10's. Obviously not as perfect as the LCR will be, but I've been impressed with the sound.

I've got to say I am very thankful that there's a place where I could come and ask questions specifically about Energy speakers.

One thing I'm oddly confused about is the lack of reviews online for a lot of Energy speakers. In particular, my CF-30's have no official reviews at all. The CF-50's have hardly any reviews (just a couple). And the CF-70 has a couple I guess. But overall there's just hardly any reviews to be found on Connoisseur speakers. I'm wondering if this is because they're more price-friendly (but worse quality, not that they're bad quality... just comparative to other previous Energy speakers), or what it is?

(p.s. hopefully you'll manage to get that RC-LCR)

there are so many speakers and speaker companies out there that it is hard to review them all. Many times reviewers just go for the top of the line speaker in the speakers lineup because that gives them the best judge of what the company expects from that lineup. Sometimes they will review the largest bookshelf from that lineup also, but that isn't too often. That is where user and owner reviews are more handy. Esp. ones where the person is comparing other speakers also.
