Scratch-resistant discs and a great dub are the only reason to get them. If you prefer good video quality, import the Madman release.

There are a ton of crappy BD releases out there but this is usually my reason for going with the BD even if it is bad.

I'm mostly getting it because I like Sailor Moon and I think there's a pretty good chance the series will just go out of print fairly soon after it's all released. Not expecting a better version any time soon... sadly.

Germany is releasing their first volume of Crystal in May. I really hope we get ours in April-May this year as well; maybe episodes 1-14 in a "Season 1" box and 15-26 in "Season 2" since Japan is considering 1-26 as two seasons now.

As far as S is concerned, I'm betting that Viz is waiting to announce their set to tie in with the Japanese premiere of Crystal Season 3, which covers the Infinity arc.

Now I'm confused on what Viz is releasing first now. Crystal or the S Season. Originally I thought it was S, then there was some information that made me think Crystal would be released first, which surprised me but that tweet made it seem like S maybe released first now. I hope one of them gets released within the next few months though, it's been a while since R part 2 was released.

I know what you mean. Sailor Moon R Part 2 was released in late October 2015 they have had enough time to organize and put together Sailor Moon S Part 1 on Blu-ray. Honestly, I would like to see them complete the original series first before going onto Crystal that way people aren't trying to collect both at the same time.

I have a feeling that they were intending to release Crystal between R and S, they even announced with the premiere of the Crystal dub in November that they would release it on BD in early 2016. Then something happened, maybe with Toei, who knows, that delayed their Crystal release for a while. It appears that they've moved on to the S release while Crystal is shelved for the time being.

Yeah that seems to make the most sense. I am fine with them releasing S first as I personally am more anxious for the new dub of that. I just find it odd since crystal dub has made its way to Hulu before the S dub and usually that's the step right before releasing the Blu. I just wish there was an announcement one way or another. Even if the release date is a ways away, I would like to at least know which one as coming first.

It's confusing as both S and Crystal are fully dubbed.

This, and it does kinda makes sense because of the arcs + some of the Classic/R/SMC cast won't be featured in later episodes.

The original anime should be the main priority. At least the first part of Crystal could have been released already though with the second coming right before S/SMC S3 or around the same time. If there is nothing delaying the releases, then there is no need for them to "pause" because like I just said, at least the first set of SMC episodes could be out already.
