Welcome to Super Saver shipping. The purposely delay it in order to get you to sign up for Prime. Six months or so ago I used to ship out the next day and get here within 3 to 4 days making standard shipping completely unnecessary. Now it can take almost a week to ship out which is why more and more I find myself going with Best Buy. They have free shipping on everything and it usually ships next day for me. Not to mention they typically price match amazon, or amazong price matches them. Only real downside is taxes but eventually amazon will have to deal with that as well.

Depending on where you live....maybe. Typically, for me, items shipped from them tend to take 4 days. So if it's the same for you then yeah you will. Might have to wait until Wed or Thurs though.

As of 1/1/13, Amazon will be charging sales tax in my state, and I'm LIVID about it. They didn't even fight it-they folded like a cheap suit. One of the few places left to save a few hundred bucks in taxes per year(I buy a ton from them, not just blu's).

Again, Amazon does not charge sales tax. Your state charges sales tax, and Amazon collects it on their behalf.

You should've been paying sales tax on your Amazon purchases anyway by directly remitting the amount to your state.

Why would shooting in IMAX have anything to do with Nolan shooting digitally, isn't IMAX shot on 70mm film?
IMAX is working on a digital camera to serve as a replacement for the film IMAX cameras. Probably still a long ways from being fully developed, but I would bet it ends up being a lot easier to use (much quieter, much smaller). Nolan loves IMAX, but he also hates having to do ADR on his actors' vocal performances. IMAX really screws you over on the quiet dialogue scenes if you want to record the dialogue on set.

Ah, good to know. I mean, eventually everything is going to switch to digital. As a matter of fact, if not for a handful of directors like Nolan and Spielberg everything is being shot and presented in digital right now. It's a damn shame, one reason I admire Nolan so much is because of his firm stance of shooting on film over digital and his use of practical effects, whenever possible, over special effects. A true visionary who only delivers the best, most authentic films to his audience.

I actually do want Amazon to delay my shipment for a few days so I can shop around locally and if I can find a better deal on Tuesdays I would have time to cancel my Amazon order

Well, while your entirely correct that I misstated the fact that they COLLECT it rather than CHARGE it, it's a distinction w/o a difference. What's relevant is that you're paying it(which is all anyone cares about), not who does what. Secondly, no, you shouldn't have been paying it all along. They don't have a retail arm in my state. That's interstate commerce, and states have zero authority to tax or regulate that. That's a FEDERAL prerogative. They state is only entitled if Amazon is using an affiliate(local seller using Amazon).

"Despite the name of the Act, ITFA does not preclude state and local governments from imposing existing sales tax collection requirements on companies selling over the Internet."

That's exactly right. IFTA doesn't, the commerce clause DOES-if they have an existing sales tax collection requirement that tries to collect where there's NOT a physical presence(as stated in the paragraph above the one you quoted, which interestingly enough, you left out). You get the last word, then we can move on, k?

If you want to price match some other BD, that is available through Amazon, just go to the Amazon listing(you can link through this site too), scroll down to the section marked "Feedback"...where you'll see a link "tell us about a lower price".
From there you can just copy the link to the other retailer and it will be duly noted by Amazon.
Thank you both for clarifying.

Yeah, I just watched it, and it's just clips from other featurettes. There are some behind-the-scenes IMAX clips from The Dark Knight (the second movie) that are cool, but for most people, The Dark Knight Reborn will be a one-and-done deal.

Yes, I'm aware of the somewhat recent Super Saver delaying tactics - but all it got them in this case was a cancelled order. They can take Prime and ... file it appropriately. I've had it "on trial" twice and it's great if you can afford it. I just can't justify $79 (if the price hasn't gone up).

As far as taxes go, Amazon started collecting in my state (Texas) earlier this year - when they, as you put it, "folded like a cheap suit". All that did was make Best Buy, which had always charged taxes, more competitive. The only thing with Best Buy is that if you can't do a store pickup, you have to order 3 Blu-rays to get a box - otherwise you're likely to get your Blu shipped in a plastic garbage bag. If you order 2 Blu-rays, you get this molded cardboard, kinda envelope thing (which is how they're shipping single small sets this season). The strange thing is that Amazon split up one of my recent orders and mailed me Men In Black II alone. I got it today and it's the first time they've ever shipped me anything in one of those molded cardboard deals (2 thin sheets of cardboard glued together everywhere except where your order is - in the center).

So I have a question. For those of us who picked up Batman Begins and/or The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray Steelbook and redeemed to get the 'Preview' which is now clearly the full length Dark Knight Rises Digital Copy, what will happen when Tuesday hits? Will it fully morph into a proper listing for The Dark Knight Rises that will then show up on Vudu and/or CinemaNow? Or what?
