Yes. It's amazing.

First film will be Last Night in Soho which I host tonight for my neighbor and me.

(I really hope it isn't Variable Aspect Ratio.) (Edit- listed as 2.40:1 .... no VAR)

So GDT's Nightmare Alley and The King's Man are making their streaming debuts next month on HULU. Nightmare Alley premiere 2/1 and The King's Man premieres 2/18.

They are both adorable.

That was the first movie I watched with my new projector and here's my thoughts having had it for nearly 2 days...

I've had CRT projectors followed by Digital Projectors and most recently a 4K native Projector (Sony 285ES)

It's easy for me to say after only watching 2 movies (the other was 47 Meters Down Blu Ray) that the RS3100 is the best projector I've ever had and pretty easy for me to say it's all I expected and more.

It's bigger and heavier than the 285ES. It's also sharper with better color and much more capable signal processing.

The 2 stand out improvements are the lens memory and the HDR processing. I use a scope screen and so far have only setup 16:9 and 2.40:1. (I just zoom for scope, I don't use an anamorphic lens setup)

I haven't experimented much with 8K E Shift which is off for now (I didn't see or hear anything wrong with it but I'll try it again later. I've read it works good with sports broadcast and I will be watching sports this weekend.) I am using the filter for wide color and the laser dimming feature which results in pitch black in my theater. Even when I had the laser dimming off, black levels were better than any projector I have known and I saw no bright corners.

I think it's easy to see what will be next for projectors, Having seperate RGB lasers and possibly having a service-able light path are 2 goals projectors should have now.

I go to youtube and watch all the OLED and 4K demos I've seen in town on good flat panels at my Best Buy and they all look jaw drop stunning. The laser can be dimmed for full black and it's just that, I can't see my hand in front of my face of full black screen content.

I hope to keep this one for 10 years. I have been averaging a new projector every 3 years since 1999 but some of those skewed the average because they malfunctioned resulting in early replacement. Some of those were high milage CRT front projectors which were pretty fun back in the day. The best thing with CRT was low black levels and I think the new JVC aces black for video content. I've never known better.

-Brian

UHD Blu-ray discs no longer supported on new Intel PC chips

Quote:
Intel's 11th Gen Rocket Lake (Core i-11000) and 12th Gen Alder Lake (Core i-12000) list SGX (Software Guard Extensions) as "no longer supported", reports Heise.de.

Together with HDCP 2.2 and AACS 2.0, SGX is required for playback of UHD Blu-ray on PCs. It means that users will not be able to use the latest Intel-based PCs as UHD Blu-ray players for 4K HDR movies.

Nothing better than less capability right? I guess it's easier on support if you support less.

Solve the chip shortage by making chips no one will want seems like a bad long term strategy.

I no longer (financially) support Intel or Micro$oft. I understand this isn't a problem for them though,.... plenty of Xbox gamers out there.

But why, is it because you're trying to save energy and money? You must don't have any children in the home because if you did, you wouldn't be able to keep the house at 68-63 degrees, or the children will get sick. What do you do if it gets below zero outside - are you going to freeze to death?

I followed UHD BD via a PC for awhile but gave up because trying to put together components that worked was a PITA. Last I looked MB's that supported SGX were mini or micro size which I had no interest in.

Purchased a Zidoo Z9X media player with the intent of procuring another Synology NAS but I may forgo that and go with a turnkey Zappiti system. At my age DIY has become much less appealing.

That’s great that your experience has been so great. When one buys a new projector, it’s tempting to watch films every single night such is the impact a good system has.

Up next for me is The Mortuary Collection 4K.

We have had 3 kids in the house at those temperatures. 2 are grown and married and one is 16. They never got (or get) sick and have suffered no ill effects. We just like to be cold as opposed to warm.

We live in the south so it rarely gets below zero, but when it does get really cold our house stays at 68 during the day and 63 at night. We have this thing called a thermostat that regulates the temperature inside the house. So no matter how cold or hot it is outside we stay at whatever the thermostat is set to.

The stock is over valued as it is. Call it a market correction.

The US streaming market is mature. All the growth will come from international, not domestic. Wall Street should know this.

Netflix is one of those stocks where the per share price and resulting market cap do not tell the real worth of the corporation. But it continues to grow quarter after quarter. And the stock market is all about the future, not the present.

Netflix, financially, is a very healthy company:
