That is all I can say at the moment.
I always sit in silence when Videodrome concludes. Truly a piece of pure film and the ending is a real stunner. I love Cronenberg.

Wish they would re-release Dead Ringers.

Cronenberg is one of the all-time greats. He knows how to tell a story in 100 minutes or less. His films have various subtexts. Videodrome warns us about the desensitization of sex and violence in everyday entertainment - twenty years later it is eerily prophetic.

Warner. They put out the last DVD. The one before was by Fox, I believe. Does anyone know what its original aspect ratio is? Warner's is 1:85, while Criterion's disc is 1:66. I'm thinking CC had it right on the money.

I was browsing the Kino thread and they were talking about intertitles and that reminded me of a question I had about People on Sunday. The intertitles used cursive rather than - for lack of a better term - a typeset font.

That struck me as unusual (and quite cool) but my exposure to silent films is pretty limited.

Is that common? Uncommon? Neither?

I don't know if I would kill for this on Blu-Ray (I haven't seen it so that might explain my hesitation...) but I would REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY like to see it and since I don't buy movies on DVD anymore, yes a Blu-Ray would be nice!

How about a puppy? Would you kill a puppy for it?

Although I loved both movies, High and Low was much more enjoyable than The Killing. It was a bit weird seeing Tatsuya Nakadai as a good guy, since he's so evil in Yojimbo/Sanjuro. It was a nice kind of weird though. I'll say it now even though the remake is a while off, and Mike Nichols and Martin Scorsese are reportedly attached to it, it's going to suck.

Don't forget about Killer's Kiss. For an interlaced extra it looks extremely good and once I realized all the audio was dubbed and I could stop spastically adjusting my audio delay I enjoyed it quite a bit.

It plays much more like a slightly rough professional feature than a student/amateur/whatever effort that shows promise.

Hmmm, no, don't think so.

Could go for it Marty Feldman style (slightly modified to fit the current conversation):

"I won't kill anything that has intelligent life, but I'd gladly kill a network executive or a politician."

A guy could do worse than having Marty Feldman as his ethical guide.

I ran out of time. I'm watching it tonight, along with Murder a La Mod, and The PHil Ochs doc, There But For Fortune. I'm still waiting for Hausu and The Seventh Seal to show up.

Just watched Diabolique. Wonderful film. Truly had my heart racing in the final sequence. Wrote a review of it here: http://lastpictureshowpodcast.blogsp...ique-1955.html

I think it is the first newsletter hint in a long time that wasn't identified within first five minutes. There still is no definite answer.

I thought Killer's Kiss was in 1080P.
I haven't got this new copy of The Killing yet, but I'll be picking it up soon, maybe in the next sale.
I wrote a small review of Killer's Kiss many years ago. I quite liked it, for an early Kubrick film with a very low budget. Will be great to revisit it.
As for The Killing - always a favourite
I've got to say, having a whole film as extra, such as with this disc and with Murder A La Mod on the Blow Out disc, is pretty amazing.

It is 1080p

"Restored high-definition digital transfer of Stanley Kubrick’s 1955 noir feature Killer’s Kiss (1:07:19 in 1080P)"

Yes...it's in 1080P, as per the DVDBeaver review...I don't think that blu-ray.com has a review for it yet...
