Will Criterion never release this again or is there a chance that the rights can be obtained by them again?
The UK release certainly does.

I suppose this doesn't mean much (because it's been listed forever) and the AE release is fine (Although the extras being in 480 is lazy) but here's something to think about:

From thedigitalbits.com:

First, there are rumors circulating that Criterion may be preparing new Blu-ray and DVD editions of Gojira (a.k.a. Godzilla). Criterion teased friends of their Facebook page the other day with a photo of film canister containing the film. Now we learn that the Collection has also located an original fine-grain print of the 1956 U.S. version of the 1954 classic (renamed Godzilla, King of the Monsters!). Very cool indeed. Let's hope for an official announcement soon! Thanks to Bits reader Jeremy C. for the heads-up!
Cool!

Sound like great news . Let's hope this makes Criterion look back at Taste of Cherry and give that a much needed upgrade .

Is that common? Uncommon? Neither?
Anybody? I did a quick Google yesterday for 'cursive intertitles' but nothing particularly useful popped.

The Claire Denis piece (30min or so) in the Interviews supplement is pretty interesting too.

Liked it very much.
I liked White Material as well. If I am not mistaken, Denis used her memories of growing up in sub-Sahara Africa as a reference point for the story the film tells. A very emotionally charged thriller/drama.

Yeah, she talked about that in the interview and how she very consciously decided she didn't want White Material to have the nostalgia feel of Chocolat.

The story of how they wound up shooting where they did (Cameroon, I think but don't hold me to that - it's been over twelve hours since I watched it) was pretty interesting too.

I don’t think this has been posted but I found them to be pretty cool. Gamepro made 12 fake criterion covers for some classic super NES games.

Here are the links to the articles. Link 1 Link 2

I really hope Criterion releases Gojira on BD. Every time I watch the Classic Media release, I am angered, dumbfounded, and smeckledorfed that such a great film has such a poor blu.

Has anybody heard anything about a Blu sale starting tomorrow? Criterion's facebook has a few people talking about what they are getting/asking what they should get (sounds familiar ) for the sale tomorrow I skimmed around here and the deals forum but I didn't find anything.

I went back a couple of days worth of posts on their Facebook page, trying to find someone giving more info about the "Sale" and also found nothing.

I'm really curious, because if it's through Criterion directly, I have a $50 credit with them.

Perhaps a 75,000 FB fans sale? Still a ways from that, though.

If it's a mere 40% I'll just keep waiting for their Criterion 50% sale. That is unless they come out with some stack-able coupons

Had the opportunity to watch Pale Flower this weekend. Great film that I plan to watch once again during the week. Also picked up Secret Sunshine along with Kinos Poetry over the weekend.

[Show spoiler]At the end of Pale FLower I was left with the tease about Saekos true identity and origin but appreciated the way the film ended.
