I have the advantage of having Netflix disc (Blu-ray) by mail. Last time figured my cost was $1.92 per title, most of the newer titles stream rentals go for 5 to 6$. Info from Just Watch.

It makes no difference to us if we watch Soho tomorrow or 3 weeks from now.

AFAIK Netflix has never had a UHD Blu-ray option, I am on the 2 at a time Blu-ray plan. Sometimes I will switch it to the 3 at a time plan. Been with them since 2006. Also have the streaming plan that I change from time to time, depends on content available. Have HBO Max, Disney+ that I start and stop, Amazon Prime never changes.

If they ever did have that option I would subscribe to it. Until that happens, I have to Redbox them or go to my local video store for 4K disc rentals.

I watched The Cursed in a theater last night. It was one of the best horror movies I've seen in a theater in a while. It had some quite disturbing scenes and a story that went in a direction that I didn't expect. Lots of atmosphere and the best soundtrack I've ever heard in a theater. It actually had film grain too, which I can't remember seeing in a theater. I'd definitely recommend it if you're a horror fan.

I watched 30 seconds of the trailer for it when it popped up, and stopped because I knew it looked to be a winner. Glad to see that the reviews are positive for it. Week 1 buy for sure.

Just got off a conference call a few minutes ago...
The general consensus was that the Russians will probably target and take down US banks and utilities over the next few days with cyber attacks...
I'm thinking that if they want to really impact the average American they should go after the streaming services.
Somehow I think more people would be upset with the latter..

I ended up canceling the Escape from L.A. 4K disc order due to the audio snafu. I will re-order it at a later date. Wasn't in the mood for another disc replacement fiasco. I can wait.

I did buy a book from Amazon called:

These boutique labels have to got to slow down with the awesome releases. Eureka, Second Sight and Arrow all made some great announcements today. My wallet can't take it. Every time I say I'm not spending anymore they pull me back in!

I bought/pre-ordered these this week:

The first 4 were part of a 20% off sale at Best Buy. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy will be my first disc from a boutique label.

I watched Reminiscence this week on disc and was blown away. The score, the visuals, and the world-building all clicked for me and I fell in love with the move instantly.

Box Office: ‘Uncharted,’ ‘Dog’ Lead Quiet Weekend as ‘Studio 666’ Flops - Hollywood Reporter 2/27

'Studio 666' is a horror comedy starring Dave Grohl and other members of the Foo Fighters.

Quote:
Sony’s Uncharted and United Artists’ Dog led a quiet weekend at the North American box office as the only new nationwide offering, Studio 666, flopped.

Uncharted, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, earned an estimated $23.3 million from 4,275 theaters in its second weekend for an enviable domestic tally of $83.4 million.

The movie, based on the popular PlayStation game series from publisher Naughty Dog, has done far more business than expected thanks to younger males, the demo that has been the most likely to go to the movies despite the pandemic. Imax and premium large-format screens, the favorite haunt of younger consumers, account for a huge share of all ticket revenue.

The Channing Tatum starrer Dog also held well in its second outing, grossing $10.1 million from 3,827 locations for a 10-day domestic total of $30.9 million. The movie has done some of its best business in America’s heartland.

Dog is a passion project for Tatum, who co-directed the film alongside Magic Mike collaborator Reid Carolin.

Inspired by 2017’s HBO documentary War Dog: A Soldier’s Best Friend, the film follows Jackson Briggs, an Army Ranger desperate to see action again after getting sidelined by a brain injury that induces seizures. To get back into his commanding officer’s good graces, he accepts an assignment to drive Lulu, an Army dog who served in Afghanistan, some 1,500 miles in his lovingly restored ’84 Bronco so the canine, herself traumatized by her wartime experiences, can attend the funeral of her late handler.

Spider-Man: No Way Home, Death on the Nile and Jackass Forever rounded out the top five.

Elsewhere, Studio 666 only managed to come in No. 8 in its debut for Open Road and Briarcliff, grossing an estimated $1.6 million from 2,306 theaters.

The legendary Foo Fighters star in Studio 666, a haunted house comedy where band members Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee fend off supernatural forces to record their 10th album.

Elsewhere, Paramount saw strong business for its 50th anniversary release of The Godfather, which grossed nearly $1 million from 156 theaters. Overseas, Francis Ford Coppola’s iconic movie pulled in $1.4 million from 14 markets for a weekend worldwide total of $2.3 million.

At the specialty box office, British director Joe Wright’s Cyrano made its official debut, grossing $1.4 million from 797 theaters for MGM and United Artists. Overseas, the music-infused take on the classic tale opened to $1 million from a handful of markets. The U.K. led with $500,000.

Cyrano also debuted in Russia as Hollywood studios grapple with whether to distribute their films in that country amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine. (The Godfather also played in Russia over the weekend.)

On a more positive note, the global box office is expected to light up next week with the release of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader. The superhero pic begins rolling out internationally midweek before opening officially in North America on Friday.

Steven Spielberg Developing Film Based on Steve McQueen’s Frank Bullitt - Hollywood Reports - Hollywood Reports 2/25

The Warner Bros. project would be a new take on the character McQueen played in the 1968 project.

Quote:
Steven Spielberg is looking to the 1960s for inspiration for a new project. The filmmaker is developing a film based on the Steve McQueen character Frank Bullitt, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The film would not be a remake of the 1968 film Bullitt, but rather an original take on the character. Deadline first reported the news of the project, which Spielberg would direct for Warner Bros., where the rights reside. Spielberg would also produce with Kristie Macosko Krieger. Josh Singer, who penned Spielberg’s The Post, would write the script. No deals are yet in place for the project, which would be executive produced by the late McQueen’s son, Chad, and granddaughter Molly McQueen. It is not expected to be the next project Spielberg would direct.

Bullitt starred McQueen as a San Francisco police lieutenant tasked with protecting a Chicago gangster scheduled to testify against the mob. When the witness is murdered, Bullitt is set on a path to track down the killers. The film earned two Oscar nominations and featured a head-turning, 11-minute car chase sequence. It would go on to become one of McQueen’s more enduring roles.
I hope this turns out well as Bullitt is a classic.

Yes Steve McQueen is one of my favorite Actors, I have Bulliet and a few others of his Movies in my Digital Collection. Like you said that Movie is a Classic, and that Chase Scene with his 1968 Mustang GT in the San Francisco City Hills can't be duplicated!
