They are not taking into account the energy/oil crisis that will probably last until 2024. They need to, mark my words.

Do it netflix, ,.. I double dog dare ya.
They would (and will) offer both options.

It will happen, I’m certain of it.

I wouldn't mind dumbing down from my current 4K plan to the ad supported SD plan since I don't use it anyway.

I just checked and that's half what I pay. I don't think my kids would even notice. I'm not sure any of them use a 4KTV though I guess they may get HD on computers and stuff.

Doesn't seem worth it for Disney's ad supported plan since the difference is only $1/month. ?? I believe I still pay only $7.99...

Maybe I can just blame these cancellations on Gas prices. That may be easier.

The speculation here is the difference will be £3 per month. Seems right, with the current £7.99 dropping to £4.99 for the ad supported model. I expect the ad supported version will be full HD but they might surprise and offer 4K.

I am thankful that we do not have to pay someone to show us dumb commercials. I used to record several CBS shows and edit out the commercials. Ted Tuner said that people who do that are stealing. Of course if he had to pay for all the RF spectrum that Tuner used for free then he would have been very angry.

I hate them but I do think it’s going to be a necessity in the current climate. People are being squeezed like never before. Both options will remain but those that are desperate to keep their streaming service would probably welcome a cheaper option.

It’s not exactly the glitzy future of streaming that some predicted but there you go.

I like having the option for cheaper plans that have ads. I spend enough on content as it is, and don't have time to watch it all anyway.

Watched the reconstructed version of Touch of Evil on 4K disc last night and it was awesome. Great film with a spectacular opening. Ironically, it was a blind buy, so I never paid attention or realized that Charlton Heston was in "brownface" playing a Mexican. That was a bit awkward, so good thing the film was awesome. I also recognized one of the goons in the Mexican gang - he played a judge in To Live and Die in L.A..

Football is so important to north east clubs and I can honestly say being stuck in league 1 for the last four years has been horrific, like a continuous nightmare. The only constant has been the tremendous support that tops 30,000 (better than all championship clubs and better than a few premier league. For how long though? We have been put through emotional hell.

Then again, I think of last year and nearly losing my sister and your loss and it reminds me to keep things in perspective. Further to that, two weeks ago, a man died at our stadium from a heart attack. The game was stopped for 50 minutes while the medics worked on him, but sadly he didn’t make it. We had a one minute applause for him at the match yesterday.
I keep reminding myself that it is just a game, SAFC flows through my veins, but there are reasons to be grateful.

I appreciate you keeping track, that ten years in the top flight seems a long time now.

Did you pick up the Pulse titles from Vinegar Syndrome site? The Marilyn Jess ones were great.

I have not. The last titles I bought from VS was Dracula Sucks, Corruption, and a few DVDs to complete my C.J. Laing collection.

I'll have to see what's up with those. I have La Femme Objet, so I'm already a fan.

You could subscribe to fewer stuff.

You could save us all some time if you stopped posting also.

So far, they are pretty good. One is a documentary but very revealing.

I loved the C.J double bill too. Only just picked it up in the Valentine’s sale.

We have Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Britt Box, Disney+, HBO Max and Netflix. Apple TV and Disney are in cancel state. Netflix downgraded from top tier to bottom tier, will most likely cancel HBO Max when the current promotion runs out. Make way to many orders to cancel Prime.

If any of the streamers makes it difficult to cancel my sub then I will cancel for good. Difficult canceling is a tactic used by many subscription services like SiriusXM, Comcast, etc.

Britbox has flopped here imo, (mainly because we already pay a licence fee for BBC) so it is getting absorbed into the new ITV streaming service ITVX I believe.

FYI, ITV is a ad supported broadcast channel over here which is part of our main offerings, BBC, ITV, C4 and C5. It’s very popular as a free service but the upcoming ITVX will offer subscription and free ad-supported. It will feature prestige dramas, soaps, docs, reality tv and blockbuster films. (So something for everyone).

I think Britbox will be absorbed into the subscription side of things for added value.

Apple inked a new deal with MLB baseball here in the states to broadcast several games throughout the season via some sort of exclusivity window. The irony of that, at least right now, is that there's a lockout and player's strike. I believe opening day has been canceled and so has a few other games. I was at my local hangout last night and my friend who is the bartender told me that they're not sure if they're going to subscribe to APTV to get those games.

As to ad supported streaming plans being offered, I do not care one way or the other. All I can say is that I will not pay a solitary cent to watch commercials. It is the main reason why I dumped cable TV 8 years ago.

If a service is ad supported, it has to be free for me to even consider using it. I really dislike advertising, so even with the service being free I would rarely tolerate the nuisance of commercial interruptions.

Have not used BritBox in several days now so I may cancel. We did find parts of Mrs. Brown's Boys very .
