It's gonna be a while, Naiera.
I've been reading up that some blu-rays from Netflix licenses that they had to carry new dubs because the labels just couldn't get the ones from that streaming services. If so, the possibility is there that the Netflix dub couldn't be included in Shout's forthcoming release. And considering the possibly that Khara wouldn't approve of the older ADV dub, then the only recourse might be to newly redub it wholesome. I wouldn't want them to go that far if both or neither option is feasible, but if they're able to get the oldest cast to reprise some of the roles, it wouldn't be a bad thing for a newly-christened dub to happen. Doesn't the ADV dub have legal issues of it's own? What a mess.

This would be the best case scenario imo. The ADV dub aged terribly, that's my biggest issue with it. A total redub of it would be ideal. Similar to how the Rebuild films were redubbed.

Maybe they should just start a Kickstarter for a few million dollars to secure rights to clear all previous dubs and produce new dubs with each existing dub cast along with three new ones, as well as redub every possible translation of the scripts. Then everyone can be happy.
Or they could commence human instrumentality. Might be easier. |

As much as I like the ADV dub and prefer it over the Netflix dub, there are elements to it that haven’t aged well, so I think redubbing it with this cast would actually be pretty smart, although hopefully the script is better than that dull nonsense used for the Netflix dub.
I don’t see why the ADV dub would have legal issues. I think that was just a rumor started because Netflix redubbed the show. In fact, I think Tiffany Grant confirmed that the rights reverted back to Khara (she used to be married to ADV’s Matt Greenfield, so she’s more “in the know” than most other voice actors). Other ADV dubs have been recycled for reissues by other companies like FUNimation, Nozomi, AnimEigo, and Discotek. |

I personally love the ADV dub of the TV show.
I'm now curious if GKIDs might have a deal for the four films. It really would drive me nuts if only the first three have releases, leaving the ending on streaming only. Last edited by DukeTogo84; 08-08-2021 at 06:40 PM. |

![]() My point was if GKIDS had a deal in place already, they would probably be showing it in theaters too. |

I see a "Localization Quality Assurance" guy in the credits, so hopefully we won't be getting pure, uncut Kanemitsu again.

And the rude sarcasm isn’t necessary. ![]() Unfortunately, I have a feeling it’s just the person that communicates with Khara. If they didn’t want “pure, uncut Kanemitsu,” they would just hire a real ADR script adapter. Last edited by GeoffOliver; 08-09-2021 at 05:16 AM. |

Forgive me if this has already been covered, but does anyone know what version of the third film Amazon is getting? Is it going to be 3.33 or 3.333 with the updated visuals?
I think it’s already been mentioned we are getting the latest version of the fourth film, but I hadn’t heard anything about the third.. |

Maybe because the international Amazon Prime Video release will be happening before 3.333's 4K UHD release in Japan, and that Japan already has a stream of 3.33. Who knows, maybe they'll patch the 3.33 stream with 3.333 sometime after the 4K UHD release of 3.333, just like what Netflix did to do a new Italian dub of the OG series after their first attempt at a dub (the second Italian dub) was absolutely terrible. Or how Disney+ changed the Marvel Studios logo in Black Panther to a special variant dedicated to Chadwick Boseman. They should release 3.333 on Prime Video instead of 3.33 alongside 1.11, 2.22 and 3.0+1.01. Its home video premiere could have been the Prime Video release. |

I just hope GKIDS gets this Amazon cast (probably using wither the same dubbing studio or NYAV) to redub the OG series and movies for their Blu-ray release. And said Blu-ray release to also include the old ADV dubs (OG dub for all original 26 episodes + the director's cut dubs for 21 - 26), the Manga dubs for the movies (plus the Commentary of Evil) and the Netflix dubs for everything. Even if the audio quality has to be sacrificed for the English dubs (lossy DTS or Dolby Digital instead of DTS-HD MA), having more lossy dubs with the Japanese audio still in the highest quality lossless DTS-HD MA, I would be happy. Also, was Shin in Dolby Atmos for its theatrical release or was it only 5.1? I know the new Rurouni Kenshin live action films were in Dolby Surround 7.1 but not Dolby Atmos. Shin Eva did play in Dolby Cinema but it's not necessarily a guarantee of a Dolby Atmos mix, especially if the film in question is from Christopher Nolan. Shin Eva played in TCX cinemas but without Atmos even if all TCX cinemas have Atmos. The Dolby Cinema release was later than the other releases so there is a chance that they prepared an Atmos remix exclusively for Dolby Cinemas.
