Will Smith and Chris Rock deserved best performance surely?

That’s grim.
Chromebooks are extremely limited in specs and capabilities. They're essentially budget laptops. We have some at my local library that folks can check out if they want a longer computer session, want to do some simple online browsing, or don't have a computer at home at all. Folks can also check them out with a virtual hotspot if they don't have online (Internet) at home, as well.

I beat Cyberpunk 2077 (again) as a "Street Kid" over the weekend. It was great. I had first beaten it as a "Corpo" back on the PS5 when I first bought the game. This time out I beat it with the new patches/updates and in 4K/60FPS (and they finally fixed the HDR).

I also watched the first Godfather film on 4K disc last night. Wow, thought it was spectacular. I'm probably going to watch Godfather II today and I also rented Some Like It Hot on 4K disc.

Maybe a Tony award for "Best Juvenile Display in a High School stage production."

On a side note, since when do men respond to a disrespectful comment about their wife by slapping the offending party? If you're gonna hit a guy, hit him for real.

I just recently picked up Cyberpunk and am playing through as a Nomad. I'm at the last mission set but I'm trying to finish up all the side jobs and gigs first.

I started up a Nomad quest as a male V, because that's the only way to get the romance with Pannam storyline going. I did the Corpo and Street Kid as a female V, however.

When a comedian that's says something that doesn't go over well, then notice the audience is irritated you suppose to walk off the stage. Defuse a bad situation.

Chris Rock failed to do that, if you watch the uncensored replay, will smith and his wife took it poorly without reacting initially, then Chris Rock spreads his arms wide and says while laughing. It's ???, then that was a nice one. Then he sees Will Smith coming up the stage. Goes whoe ho (laughs) as Will is upset coming towards him and gets smacked. He then should have left the stage which is what most comedians do when a audience member does something like that.

So as much as Will Smith walked up and slapped him for a inappropriate joke, and then twice used the F word afterwards telling him to shut his mouth, Chris Rock is equally responsible when played back.

‘Lost City’ Unearths Female-Fueled $31M Opening in Big Win for Box Office Recovery - Hollywood Reporter 3/27

Throughout the pandemic, many older females have been reluctant to return to the multiplex, but they're turning out in force to see the Sandra Bullock-Channing Tatum action-adventure.

Quote:
Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum’s The Lost City opened to a better-than-expected $31 million domestically from 4,252 theaters in a significant win for the box office recovery.

Until now, males under the age of 35 have fueled the rebound, while titles depending upon older adults — particularly older females — have lagged.

Paramount’s Lost City, an action-packed romance adventure that’s a throwback to the era of Romancing the Stone, bucked that trend in a major way. Roughly 60 percent of Friday ticket buyers were female, while a whopping 47 percent were over 35.

The gender demo changed somewhat as the weekend went on, but female ticket buyers still led with 56 percent. The age breakdown stayed the same, meaning that nearly half of all ticket buyers were 35 and older.

The movie over-indexed everywhere west of the Mississippi, was at norm in the southeast, and under-indexed in the northeast. Canada came in with a healthy 7.5 percent. Top markets that over-indexed included Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Denver, Tampa, Minneapolis, Portland, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Albuquerque, Honolulu and Oklahoma City. Top markets that under-indexed included New York, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Boston.

“The Lost City has breathed theatrical life into the adventure-comedy-romance genre which has been somewhat scarce of late,” Paramount domestic distribution president Chris Aronson said. “A sensational opening!”

Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame also stars in the movie, which made its world premiere at the SXSW festival earlier this month.

Overseas, the film earned $3.7 million from its first 16 smaller-size markets.

The Batman continued to fare nicely, earning $20.5 million to finish Sunday at $332 million domestically. It earned another $25 million overseas for a foreign tally of $340 million and $672.9 million worldwide, including a hefty $52.7 million from Imax theaters. One weak link is China, where numerous cinemas have closed amid a new surge in COVID-19 cases. Batman tumbled to $3.1 million in its second weekend for a China total of $17.9 million, according to Warners.

Indian action pic RRR made headlines in its North America debut where it came in third with $9.5 million from 1,160 locations, a record for an Indian film. Distributor Sarigama is treating the movie as an event offering and is charging more for tickets.

Climbing adventure Infinite Storm, starring Naomi Watts, didn’t fare so well. The Bleecker Street release opted to debut nationwide in 1,525 locations and opened to a dismal $751,296.

At the specialty box office, the acclaimed Everything Everywhere All at Once (A24), starring Michelle Yeoh, was a breakout hit with a weekend location average of $50,965 from 10 locations in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Mothering Sunday (Sony Pictures Classics), starring Odessa Young, opened in five cinemas. The film’s weekend per-location average was $1,800 or thereabouts.

Among holdovers back in the top 10, Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home still had plenty to boast of more than three months after first opening in theaters. The superhero pic has become only the third film in history to cross the $800 million mark domestically, behind Avengers: Endgame ($858.4 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.7 million), not adjusted for inflation.

Spidey grossed $2 million for the weekend to finish Sunday with a domestic total of $800.5 million and $1.88 billion globally.

March 27, 7:40 a.m.: Updated with revised estimates.

The point of my comment was not to decide who was more at fault in this pathetic spectacle. My point was what man slaps another man after having decided that he deserved to be hit? And then starts crying afterwards?

If I decide to hit a guy, rightfully or wrongfully, I am going to hit him as hard as I possibly can with my closed fist. I'm not going to slap him and then cry about it moments later.

I guess he was ashamed and also concerned because he's such a public figure that everything he does is going to be put under the microscope. He doesn't get to have an off moment esp where they were at the time.

Being a host is really difficult as something are funny and some are not.

I didn't watch it but I bet everyone involved regrets it now.

A man should be able to apologize without bawling like a baby...and he didn't even really apologize while he was blubbering away. Nearly a day had to pass before he could manage that.

Well, he must have stress that I can't relate to.

I still don't get what was so offensive about what Chris Rock said. What I heard was something about waiting for GI Jane 2 and that you know doesn't seem like something super offensive.

Though I haven't seen GI Jane.

My guess it he took it as a jab at her health problems.

Thankfully, there is no such thing as bad press.

Will Smith issued a formal apology this afternoon, saying in part:

"Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,”

https://variety.com/2022/film/news/w...nt-1235216526/

Only took him about 20 hours to issue this apology. All the bawling probably left him dehydrated.

These PJs really are great. I keep a little day planner ($3 at TJMax) to jot down what I watch this year and I'm watching quite a lot. I've never been happier with my home theater.

I wish it was here when over the holidays when my kids and step dad were visiting. I've told them that anything they have watched here they need to see it again.
I too am over the moon that you big boys have finally got your fancy new toys!
A fellow member over at AVS sold me his well taken care of x570r for a great deal once his NX7 arrived. It had less than 400 hours on a new bulb (OEM receipt and old bulb provided) and he'd just used his spyder5 to calibrate it for his black hole media room which meant minimal tweaking on my end for my similarly appointed room!

The picture is glorious! Lens shift has changed my life! I built a 150" CIH AT scope screen out of spandex....having dialogue come right out of the screen is a game changer! The JVC's panels allow me to sit less than 10' froom the screen with NO screendoor effect!

Paired with a 7.4.4 system and tactile transducers - I AM AT THE MOVIES!!!

As far as Will Smith is concerned, my only question is - How has he not been charged with assault?

I can't imagine that the american justice system is so ass backward that Chris Rock's unwillingness to press charges means anything.

I have been charged with assault on numerous occasions. If memory serves, more than one of them had to do with a perceived slight on a then girlfriend/wife. It is a perfectly understandable response.......FOR A MAN IN HIS TWENTIES!!

I'm lucky to have never been convicted because, in all cases cooler heads prevailed and the charges were dropped. The police needed the other party's co-operation because otherwise it's simply a he said/ he said situation. In the case of a bar room brawl, the cops (at least Toronto's finest) show up and charge EVERYONE and let the courts sort it out....or let everyone decide that it's in everyone's interest to let things slide shortly thereafter.

I just turned 50...I've put away childish things. Will is older still, and should have known better. He committed a crime in front of 10,000+ witnesses and countless viewers on international TV. Regardless of how anyone feels about the act, the parties or slights involved, the fact that he has not been charged is ridiculous.

Will Smith was not charged because Chris Rock declined to press charges.

"The Los Angeles Police Department also said Rock chose not to press charges against Smith over the onstage altercation."

Yeah, unless the American system is so different from the Canadian, Rock's willingness to co-operate is irrelevant. Smith committed a criminal offense (assault, battery?) in front of thousands of eye witnesses. The victim is not needed to secure a conviction here. There's no defense that can be mounted here.

Here in the U.S. the victim typically presses charges in order for a criminal assault case to be prosecuted. Prosecutors generally do not like pursuing these cases without the cooperation of the victim as it can make securing a conviction much harder.

The L.A. Police department dropped the matter when Chris Rock declined to press charges; they probably decided it was not worth their time or resources to pursue a misdemeanor conviction against a guy with no criminal record. The penalty likely would have been no more than a small fine and maybe a few months probation. The taxpayer's dollar can surely be put to better use pursuing more important cases.

From what I saw, it didn’t even look like contact was made. I still say it was a publicity stunt.
