That will be really good, or really bad (like in modern warfare 2, where you get people running around just knifing, ggrrrr).

It looks like it takes more time to knife in this though. Not like an instand death button in MW2. It also looks like you are pretty vulnerable while doing it too.

The MP trailer we've seen is called 'KILLZONE 3 MULTIPLAYER TRAILER (SHORT)' on Killzone.com so there might be a longer version coming...

Press Release

KILLZONE 3 TO FEATURE EPIC ORIGINAL SCORE BY IVOR NOVELLO AWARD-WINNING COMPOSER JORIS DE MAN

LONDON, England – 23rd August, 2010 – Following his landmark IVOR NOVELLO award-winning musical achievement for the first-person shooter video game KILLZONE 2 on PlayStation 3, Dutch-born composer JORIS DE MAN returns to provide a new original music score for the highly anticipated next installment in the blockbuster franchise, KILLZONE 3. Internationally renowned for his epic, powerful and sweeping orchestral music, Joris de Man's rousing theatrical score for KILLZONE 3 enhances the game's Hollywood-style, action-focused narrative and propels the dramatic movie sequences and cinematic, visceral gameplay. His most ambitious compositional work yet, Joris de Man will record his symphonic music at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios. Developed by Guerrilla Games, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, KILLZONE 3 is scheduled for release in February 2011.

"Joris is the kind of composer that keeps developing his skills and throughout the years he always manages to amaze us with new sounds, themes and direction in his music and for KILLZONE 3 he's doing exactly that again," said Mathijs de Jonge, Game Director at Guerrilla Games. "KILLZONE 3 will be the seventh title that I've worked on with Joris and it's great to see how the projects we work on keep growing both in scale as well as popularity. I think it's very important to have this kind of creative connection with the composer as it adds so much to the experience when music and game complement each other."

In May 2010, Joris de Man was presented with the inaugural award for "Best Original Video Game Score" for the KILLZONE 2 soundtrack at the 55th IVOR NOVELLO AWARDS ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. The IVORS are presented annually by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters (BASCA) and are respected worldwide as the major platform for recognizing and rewarding Britain's songwriting and composing talents. They are the only major music award to be judged and presented by the writing community. The music of KILLZONE was also celebrated at the "JOYSTICK 3.0" concert in Sweden performed by the Malmo Symphony Orchestra. The JOYSTICK symphonic concert series currently holds the world record for a game music performance with an attendance of 17,000 at the first show in 2006. KILLZONE will be performed at the Gothenburg Symphonic Orchestra's "SCORE" concert in Sweden this November.

Composer Joris de Man commented, "Winning the Ivor this year gave me such a boost because receiving was not just recognition for my work on the score, but being awarded it in its first year meant being part of a growing appreciation of game music in general. The achievement spurred me on and has given me a new energy that I hope will be heard in the music I'm now writing for KILLZONE 3. I was thrilled to be invited again to work alongside the team at Guerrilla; they continue to push the limits of design and technology and I'm really proud to be a part of their next opus."

Following on the heels of the highly acclaimed KILLZONE 2, players will once again face the hostile Helghast army, battling overwhelming odds in the fight for human survival. KILLZONE 3 delivers the definitive cinematic sci-fi war experience with an immersive single-player campaign as well as multiplayer action in the war against the Helghast. KILLZONE 3 will be fully playable in Stereoscopic 3D, immersing you in the heart of the action. While you experience this world in incredible, High Definition, Stereoscopic 3D detail - you'll learn to fear what's around every single corner. They do need to reduce the default turning box I think. Start turning slowly 10% and quicker closer to 0% from the edge. You lose that area for snap-shooting at targets but at least you can turn, look up and down with some precision. They should make it all adjustable in the options of course, with casual and core gamer presets along with manual tuning.

Who did the score for KZ2? I thought that was one of the best parts of the game. It was fantastic.

Agreed, hopefully they give us a whole lot of tweaking options as Killzone 3 is what for me will make or break this motion control fps gaming.

I'm not up-to-date with all the KZ3 news and never played the 1st or 2nd game so I don't know if they ever had a level with rain or will include rain in KZ3?
I remember the Citadel level in GOW3 and was amazed with how good the rain and wet buildings/statues looked.

Killzone 2 multiplayer had a rainy DLC map.

So far we know Killzone 3's got nuclear wastelands, alien jungles, arctic vistas and space.

Space?! Wow! Imagine if the space gameplay tops dead space 2 (didn't mean to offend any ds2 fans).

I got a couple plot questions: how come the Helghast have to wear masks on their own homeplanet and the ISA don't have to? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Or at least wouldn't it make sense for ISA to wear masks too? You'd think the Helghans would be the ones that are used to the atmosphere.

edit: Did you get to fight female Helghasts in the previous games? will they make an appearance in the 3rd game?

The Halgast air is toxic over a long period of time. I guess the ISA don't feel they will be there long enough to be affected. That is why the Halgast look the way they do. They used to be human before they colonised the planet.

And if I remember correctly you do see some female Halgast in KZ1.

Killzone.com: BEHIND THE SCENES AT GAMESCOM

35 seconds of direct-feed multiplayer gameplay!

Funny when the dead Hig gets caught up in the EXO Suit's legs.

With the brutal melee attacks it's just as well they've got nice closeup cloth detail textures now.

[Show spoiler]

Fantastisch. Not sure what's happened to his hands there actually.

Killzone 3 Multiplayer Hands on premieres at PAX 2010
Posted by Aryeh Loeb // Producer, Guerrilla Games

Quote:
If you’re heading to the 2010 Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, Washington this weekend, we’ve got a bit of a treat for you: Killzone 3 will be there, and YOU can go hands-on with the game’s multiplayer mode! This will be the first time the Killzone 3 multiplayer mode is accessible to the public, so we’re really anxious to hear what you think. To make sure as many people as possible get a shot, we’ve got 16 multiplayer pods set up, with 8v8 matches rolling over constantly. On top of that there’ll be seven single-player pods available, three of which sport glorious 3D! We’ll be giving away Killzone swag bags at the booth so make sure you get down there early since quantities are limited.

So be sure to visit the Killzone 3 booth at PAX 2010 (that’d be the one patrolled by Helghast Troopers), to get your first taste of the game’s single and multiplayer modes. And bring your buddies, because Brutal Melee is also part of the package.

One last thing: keep your eyes out for collectible art cards we’re giving out at the Killzone 3 booth with the image above. We’ll have specific instructions on there letting you know how YOU can win a Killzone 3 Beta code!

Awesome! The fact that KZ3 will return to the same wide range as the first game (and more) is something i'm really excited about. More environments is no bad thing.
