Those who have played the multiplayer aspect are generally those who live locally here in Seattle that have played an alpha-build of the game being called in to test the game, but at the same time, those who have played it sign NDA's and they are taking a huge risk discussing the game as with every game test, a person signs a NDA stating they will not talk about it and can be prosecuted if caught. Studios have tracked down people who have talked about games they have tested in the past, whomever is doing this about Destiny sure is taking a big risk and a rather stupid move on their part.

I have faith in Bungie, always have, too many people are expecting the next "Halo" from them so they probably want to get out from under that shadow.

Bungie is trash. They added several hundred people after Halo 3. These are people that had nothing to do with the original team's success. Halo Reach was a terrible game, especially compared to Halo 2. How can anybody be excited for a game by the same people who made Reach.

Destiny looks slow and boring. Overrated.

Most gaming companies hire on new developers, that isn't anything new. I will admit I didn't care for ODST or Reach myself, the first three games were excellent, but I'd hardly call Bungie "trash" just because they hired on new workers. Halo to many gamers raised the bar per say for gaming and some feel they need to compare every shooter that comes out to it. Destiny may not top Halo, but it may also be just as enjoyable...we all will know in a few months though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it looks slow

Honestly someones opinion on an alpha is more or less meaningless, as an alpha is so far from the final product, a beta (that is a real beta, not these demo 'betas' battlefield had) are still far from finished. This is a game I would likely be exited for, but it is also the game I have no interest of playing on consoles. It's a shame bungie will not simply hire another company to do a port (mercenary games did a very good job with High Moon Studios games and is a very small team). To me it just seems like that for an industry that continues to claim financial strife that companies seem very okay with limiting there customer base. Anyway, back to my original point, alpha is alpha and even if it was the most horrid game one had experienced it was still alpha which makes the opinion moot.

Ha, probably for most people, but being kind of slow is tailored made for me. Whenever I do anything online (rarely, except for Warframe), the one thing that pretty much shocks me is how fast people move and play. I keep thinking there must be some reward for finishing as fast as possible. For me, I like to explore and contemplate what I'm doing but that doesn't seem to be the norm. I can understand it though. Once I've played a zillion missions in Warframe and only care about the end result, I become one of those trying to complete it as fast as possible but in general, that's not the norm for me. So, I can appreciate this kind of gameplay (if you consider this slow --- I don't).

Also slower gameplay for a shooter is honestly a better fit for a first person shooter on a console as the game can reduce (or have no) auto aim or aim assist. Meaning the game is playing less of the game for you.

Preordered the game and got the beta code. If I don't like it, I'll just move my preorder over to Uncharted 4 or Dragon Age.

Glad to know you've reviewed the game without playing it.

I'm not going to lie. The game play does look a little slow, but the fact that over 500 million dollars has been spent making this game has me interested. Also everyone I know who owns a PS4 is buying this day 1. I have to at least check it out. The beta will be enough for me to know yes or no.

So some Alpha gameplay videos have leaked. They were quickly taken down from YT but you can download them if you fancy an early look at the game

Looks great to me; especially for a console. People going around talking trash about Bungie sound like trolls.

It looks pretty good and I can see how people think the game play is slow after watching these videos. These were only showing a single player, can your friends just jump in with you at anytime or only at the start of a mission?

And you sound like a bungie fanboy who thinks they can do no wrong. Is everyone forgetting about Halo Reach? Probably one of the most boring games I've played.

Halo 2 is still the most fun I've had online, but after they made Reach, the proved they had no idea what they did right. Even Halo 3 was nothing special.

What someone finds enjoyable is subjective and your opinion.

Some official commentary from Luke Smith, one of the designers of Destiny:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost...postcount=1557
Quote:
There's a lot of confusion here, and we haven't done the best job ever of explaining the game or its structure.

I'm Luke, and I'm one of the lead designers on Destiny.

First, Destiny is structured into Activities.

We've attempted to build a suite of activities that can suit a variety of moods (I want something challenging! I want to chill out with my friends! I want to see where the story goes next! I want to shoot other players!, I want the game to be a cruel dominatrix! et cetera)

These activities come in a bunch of flavors:
Story missions - soloable activities (you can still play them in groups of up to 3!), often with ties to the main story arc of Destiny (the campaign). These activities appear at various Levels (numerical, relative to the player) and choosing a higher level (relative to you) means you're opting in for some additional challenge.
Strikes - 3 player activities, with bosses and loot at the end. Their goal is a highly replayable activity that will - at higher levels - lead you into the loot game.
Explore - cruise around the surface of a planet in Fireteams of up to 3, taking odd jobs and tasks for the City. You can find minerals and resources out in the world that you'll have some use for as you find weapons in Destiny that you want to stick with. This is a lower intensity activity
Raids - 6 player, cooperative required, communication required gameplay. High challenge. We haven't talked much about this yet and I'm not going start that conversation here on NeoGAF
Multiplayer This is for the "shoot other players" mood.

Now, the second part is how the world has been built.

We've structured Destiny's world to have places where you will probably intersect with other players, and places where you won't. We're not going to have players drop into the climax of a mission, but the common landing zones for a given planet? That seems like a great place to see other players running amok in the world.

EDIT: Regardless of what activity you're playing (PVP aside), you'll see players on their own activities, i.e., players beginning a Strike might see a guy collecting Relic Iron on Mars, and a Public Event begins and suddenly everyone is distracted to take down a key Cabal target for a chance at powerful gear and materials to upgrade your best weapons and armor.

A bunch of folks are playing the Alpha now and we're already seeing all kinds of opportunities for places to improve Destiny. I have no doubt that in the Public Beta, we will learn even more from your feedback and experiences.

I'm not going to get into any of the recurring activities or gearing or class stuff today, but I imagine we'll start to try and explain stuff more soon.

After reading all of that, I have come to the conclusion that this game will be delayed until 2015.

I am; I believe respect is earned and they have earned mine. I am not the biggest Halo fan - thought it was fun. And what about Halo Reach? That isn't Destiny....?

So you dont like Reach so the rest of us have to agree with you? Ah no...hell no. Halo 2 was a great game, but so was Halo 3 imo. Heck I loved them all including Reach so we are gonna have to agree to disagree. I'll respect your POV if you respect mine
