Not sure where you got that info, according to the Criterion site there here are two individual releases coming of Tootsie, a 1-disc BD and a 2-disc DVD.
Thanks, guys, sounds good to me. Perhaps the site just hasn't caught up yet.

The nice thing about the case is that it has two open slots - one for the Alliance BD (which has the 3+ hour version of Things They Said Today) and the MPI DVD (which has the I'll Cry Instead intro and a coupla newsreels). Now all I gotta do is find someone to buy these two Criterion coasters.

Would you be willing to part with the case and cover art that the Alliance disc came in?

Anyone know how the Criterion transfer matches up with Second Sight's from the UK?

They're identical...Criterion's is Region-A encoded for the US market while Second Sights is Region-B encoded for the EU market...conditions of their distribution deals...

Depends on if you're a US or UK-based fan...Criterion's better if you're accustomed to the American-based presentation of the film, while Second Sight caters more to Brits...

What!?! What does that even mean? Different extras? Different sound/picture style?

Having researched this yesterday, the UK Second Sight release from 2014 doesn't include anything in terms of Disc content that isn't also on the Criterion set, and is lacking some of these!

What one of the Second Sight versions does have, in my opinion, is a nicer cover that features the Fab Four running through a street! This isn't enough incentive for me to double dip, however!

Below are some links to related articles:

Second Sight's UK Blu-ray release (The one with the AWESOME cover!):
http://www.rupertpupkinspeaks.com/20...n-blu-ray.html

The back cover indicates the same 1.75:1 Aspect Ratio that was used for the Criterion release:
http://www.45worlds.com/dvd/disc/5028836040354

Here is the nightmare inducing cover that was used for Second Sight's UK DVD version:

How could they get one cover oh so right, and the other, oh so BLEECH? And some think the Criterion cover is bad!

CHEERS!

Me thinks Ringo spent too much time on that Yellow Submarine! He looks jaundiced!

Sorry to bump this thread.

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned, but the Criterion release of The Rock Box includes a single-disc version of this film.

I picked up this version in a trade and like it much more than the dual-format issue. I don't miss the book and can use the shelf space.

I did see the single disc version in stores last week so it seems to be available outside the Rock Box set.

If you see it again in stores, do you mind taking a picture of the back for UPC purposes?

I'm home today suffering through a nasty Head Cold that has my Chest killing me from the jerking created by my loud disturbing coughing. It's one of those colds where you start a coughing fit and are not quite sure you'll survive because your throat tightens-up and you can't breath and you panic thinking it's all over.

Anyway... I decided to watch this again. Damn, this looks good! I love looking at John's pores.

Hey just wanting to ask if the UK second sight is what we got in Australia? I'm guessing probably.

Thanks for any help.

OI gave this all time great gem a fresh viewing New Years Eve.

In my opinion, the Criterion Blu-ray is so leaps and bounds over the '02 Miramax travesty. To my ears, all of the sounds (Yes, even the opening screams that weren't part of the original release!) belong, and the musical transitions are more natural. It is such a marvelous visual and aural treat!

The only instance in which I miss the (Slightly incorrect) 1.66:1 Aspect Ratio of the Miramax release, is during the concert performance of "I Should Have Known Better" when George Harrison does his bit of Irish Jig like footwork, which is somewhat cut off in the correct 1.75:1 AR.

CHEERS!

I have been hearing persistent rumors over the past year, in various nooks & crannies of the 'net, which claim CRITERION either has or is in the process of obtaining the rights to the rest of the Beatles films in time for the (supposed) restoration/reissue of "Let It Be", which was supposedly to follow the new Peter Jackson documentary - which has obviously been postponed into 2021 thanks to the Covid19 pandemic.
Was wondering if anyone else here has heard any such rumblings, online or otherwise?..

Haven't all the Beatles' Films, except "Let It Be," already been released on Blu? I have "AHDN," a not-so-impressive "Help," "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Yellow Sub," on Blu.

What you asked might be interesting, but I'd heard (months ago) that the Original "Let It be" will be released as a Bonus with the new Doc... Won't Disney Own the New Doc? And if so, wouldn't they be licensing "Let It Be?"

I'm not sure why they're holding off until 2021. Do they expect to make scads of cash in the Theaters?

I'm looking forward to seeing the New Doc AND the Original in High-Def (I have Let It Be on Laser Disc and a "Restored" Boot that looks better than the LD) - But it's sad that McCartney (and, I guess, Yoko) desperately need to reinvent those Last Years of the Beatles.

George and John were pretty outspoken about those final Beatles' Years. Both said they were horrible. George called the last year, "The Winter of Discontent."

Mark Lewisohn interviewed all of the Engineers, Sidemen, Studio Employees and Beatles Friends, and documented this Period really well in the "The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions," and he comments that those years were danged awful for everyone around the Beatles.
