Thanks to those that have posted beginner tips and guides. I'm not far in so I think I'm going to start over now that I know more about what is going on.

I got to play a little last night and a little this morning but not have a lot of time to really dive into it.l don't think I got very far but I did die alot lol.

The dying is fine, so long as you are getting back to your bloodspot. I have not seen other penalties for dying as of yet.

What is the difference (if any) between quick items and personal effects? I seem to be able to fill those slots with the same things. Is it just different ways of accessing the same inventory items?

Use the personal effects so you can keep your main menu bar free from non combat items. IE in a battle you don't want to scroll through crap to get to your molotovs etc.

Is the 'View Spectre' option working for anyone? When I click to view, nothing happens......?

Update: so nothing showed in the initial werewolf area; now that i died, I can see them...............? lol, still figuring this out

Picked up my copy just a short while ago. Just got the regular release. Tried several places but nobody had the Collector's Edition so I just got the regular one. I wasn't that concerned about getting the CE anyways. Looking forward to giving the game a try.

How do I save in this game? Do I do it in the hunters dream or somewhere else? Not really far into the game yet, just got to the main town and opened a few doors. Not even sure I can save yet.

You have to find a lantern (lamp, ghoulish campfire, whatever they're called) that is on the ground (on the one I found) and when you activate it, it allows you to return to Hunter's Dream and when you die, you respawn at the campfire.

Anyway, I can't seem to beat the big guy that the tip sheets said to practice one. Where is the easy button!

Edit: HA, finally!

Just can't play the way I normally do things with other type games.

There are no saves in the usual sense. If you quit by exiting to the main menu, you will restart wherever you were when you come back.

im not liking this at all... i cant even kill the wolf monster or whatever its called.

I'm actually surprised by how well I'm doing. I didn't play Dark Souls, but I remember that I felt accomplished when I killed an enemy or two in Demon's Souls before dying. I think the combat is faster and more intuitive (at least for me) and even though I'm dying a lot I feel like I'm getting better each time.
