I disagree in the sense that the characters are introduced and developed THROUGH the action. You get to know them through their actions and behaviour with minimal dialogue.

I thought the movie was great. Just amazing non-stop action. I am ashamed to say I don't remember whether I saw it in 3D or not.

First time I saw this was in the Cinema, excellent 3D and a banging soundtrack. I purchased the 3D BD on release but have only watched about half of it to date as it gets a little tiresome and repetitive, a shorter runtime would have been better (imo).

Yes, thanks, I realise that. I don’t actually know what you disagree with.

Well you literally said most films introduce their characters before getting to the action whereas this movie does it the other way around. That's what I was disagreeing with. You said only a third into the movie do we start to get to know the characters, I disagree with that. Hopefully that's clear now.

I'm resurrecting this thread after watching Fury Road. The movie is basically one long thrill ride and Tom Hardy is a beast, but Theron matches his intensity. I wasn't impressed with the 3D in the beginning although the cave chase scene was nice. But he 3D begins to picks up in the first Furiosa chase scene. After that, the longer the movie went on with more and more chaos, the better the 3D experience got. The movie only has a few obvious pop outs but has some real fun ones towards the end.

The Atmos mix is very immersive and done so well that I didn't stop to think about it, but the LFE is relentless. In comparison to Gravity which has its moments of LFE madness, and Aquaman with near constant LFE, Fury Road is a combination of the two with near constant LFE madness. I literally had to change the mounting position of some equipment because of the LFE.

For me Fury Road has combines an engaging story with fun visuals, immense audio and a very immersive 3D experience.

Edit:
Watching the 3D Bunker review reminded me about particle effects in explosions which which looked great in 3D.

I remember trying to defend this film in its day, pointing out that it was against the things reviews said it was for, but there seems to be no denying that Furiosa is the main character, and Tom Hardy has no charisma in the role. Which might be what he was directed to deliver, as he's there to support Furiosa in her absolutely insane plan, erm, "plan".

How localized are your new quasi-dbox on seat LFW speakers? By which I mean how audible/felt is it to someone who isn't sitting in the chair.

How far out did the steering wheel and the guitar appear for you? When we saw it in 2D, we figured seeing it in 3D would be a Jimi Hendrix experience: playing the guitar with your teeth

Oh, what did you think of Max's foot? I recall that being a highlight from the ole 3D Bunker review, but I have yet to rewatch that part of the film in 3D.

In our theater room we have a loveseat that’s two recliners with a bin/cupholders between them. I installed two bass shakers on my seat (one on back and one on seat) about 8 months ago and have them turned up to almost max, My wife, who watches a few movies a week with me, totally forgot I had installed them. With a tight mount directly to the springs they’re extremely quiet. I was shocked at how subtle they are from just a few feet away. If the room was totally silent you would maybe slightly hear them, but if you’re watching a movie with sound they’re almost undetectable even from another seat on the same couch. At the same time they are really strong when you’re sitting on them. Ideal for apartments or situations where you want to feel the bass but don’t want to disturb neighbors or housemates.

I think both characters had decent arcs and yes Furiosa is the main character of this story, but this is still Max's universe. Her plan is insane but not much more so than Max's plan later on if you think about it

I initially mounted a my TR on the wood frame at the back of my armchair. But after 5 minutes of violent LFE knocking it against the frame, I had to remount it on the springs instead. Both Aquaman and Gravity exposed the limits of my device, but only Fury Road literally felt like someone with a small jack hammer trying to burst out from the inside. The armchair vibrations doesn't travel to other chairs, but I put isolation pads under it to reduce any impact on the neighbors.

They clearly leave the screen and I loved the effect, but I think they break the screen barrier before getting really close.

I'm going to have to rewatch that bit then report back lol. I think it was too brief for me to notice which even @Telegram Sam admits to in his review.

Remains an epic, adrenaline gushing movie with solid to excellent 3D. Well worth a rewatch!

I’m tempted to make a fan version of the black and white version in 3D. How does it stack up in 2D vs the colour version?

It's interesting but the film already looks great in colour. Of all the colour films released in black and white versions the only one I ever found worthwhile in its own right was Johnny Mnemonic and that's because the director is renowned for his black and white art so he really went to town on making the film look strikingly different.

This is my favourite movie and, despite owning the black and white version, I've never actually watched it. I'm not a fan of black and white unless the movie was shot that way/ it's the only way to watch it.

I remember this as an excellent 3D movie with some wonderful pop outs.

Bought the standard case a while ago and was able to buy the nice steelbook edition used in perfect condition for only a few bucks a few month ago. I could not resist.

That one, and THE MIST. I won’t watch either of them in color.

I liked the colours in The Mist as much as I did in Mad Max Fury Road and while I would have preferred a Sin City approach to Johnny Mnemonic the b&w version overall just makes the film look better. Still haven't seen Logan in b&w but I'm not in any hurry to.

Slightly back on topic I have the standard 3D edition with a lenticular slipcase as well as the lovely Black & Chrome steelbook, I was thinking of frankensteining the editions together into a 3-disc set but can't work out a satisfactory way of doing it.
