We have a lot of talent, but I just don't see it (after Bama's showing last week...). Sorry, but I'm a realist.

As part of "heading in the right direction", I just want us to be relevant on a national level. We'll never have recruiting and/or staying power of LSU or Alabama, so we'll never reach superpower status of Florida, USC, Tex, or OU. Let's not kid ourselves. We've been considered a doormat for a lot of years. If we can simply command respect among analysts and other teams, I'll be more than pleased.

Thanks for the nice thought, ShockWave.
Its clear they are now relevant and have been for a few years now, they have become year after year a team you don't want to mess with. I'd have said this would have been their huge year but that dumb sit out transfer rule made Jevan lose a playing year.

This is year 2 of relevance, as last year was the first time they won more than 4 games since the Eli Manning era. Snead didn't lose a playing year either, he had to sit out a year but didn't lose any eligibility. If he plays well it won't matter though since he'll go pro. Snead is interesting. Commits to Florida, then de-commits when Tebow commits. Goes to Texas, gets beat out by Colt McCoy, so he transfers. Also, Snead's final high school game was a playoff loss to a team quarterbacked by Matthew Stafford.

Thats what I figured he'd do, which is why I don't like the sit rule since most players will just leave especially if he wants to get his $$$ before they put in a wage scale or get locked out. They did play a brutal 07 schedule and showed they had something to build on, thats why I said a few .

hopefully the redskins can get him, colt or bradford

I hope and pray Snead comes back for his senior year, but my heart tells me he won't if he has another good season. A lot of draft-worthy juniors are learning a good lesson from Sam Bradford and Jermaine Gresham (and maybe LaGarret Blount) about reasons to leave early.

The Georgia Tech game will be a very telling game for the 'Canes. That win over Florida State was HUGE for us and gave Randy Shannon the first quality win of his career. The Miami roster is chock full of talent but they are very young. If the coaching staff can tap into that potential Miami will be back to contending for a national title next season, and have a fighting chance for the ACC title this year. Randy Shannon is one of the best in the business at recruiting as you can see with the classes he brings in, but he needs to start showing it on the field. The win over Florida State was a great start, but let's keep moving in the right direction. Miami BELONGS in the top 10.

I think the bigger reason juniors will turn pro after this season is that likeliness of an NFL lockout in 2011. They'll want to cash in while they can still get the big rookie contracts. I expect to see a lot of holdouts next year.

That was a good win for the U. Not sure Miami belongs in the top 10 though. FSU defense was horrid. It's a shame that FSU's program has gone off the map. FSU D was the most respected D in NCAA for years, especially in the 90's.

We should know if Miami is a good team in the next three weeks. After watching GT last night. Seems like Miami should be able to throw deep like they did against FSU.

I agree, I'm glad to see the U rebounding, I would just like to see a little better play calling, I thought he missed some chances in that fsu game, but like you said they are VERY young.

You misunderstood my point. Miami belongs in the top 10 in the sense that a program with our tradition and success should never have the type of down years we have been having lately. There is no excuse for the Miami Hurricanes to struggle to make bowl games. Winning is in our blood, it's what we do. Miami should be a perennial top tier team.

I don't...... I think USC is going to beat them by a TON..... in Columbus or not.

I'm glad to see Cincinnati break into the top 25 after their impressive performance against Rutgers..... early-polls or not.

I agree that with the talent level in Florida Miami should be top 10, but I guess the question is at what cost? There is no question Miami could be top 10 but Shannon appears to be recruiting players with some semblance of character. Florida is winning national titles, but it also has had 24 arrests in the last 4 years. Most people would be willing to trade success for arrests but not Shannon. Miami also has increased competition for prospects in the state of Florida as schools like South Florida are improving and more programs are recruiting nationally. Here's a great story from Florida alum Gregg Doyel about Florida's arrests.

They are very talented, and as always, everybody has speed. It's going to be a great season for them as long as they keep Jacory Harris healthy. I know that hit to his arm had all the U fans worried for a little while. Hopefully the lack of depth at QB won't ever be an issue this season because Randy Shannon can probably get any QB he wants from the state of Florida if they make it to a good bowl this season.

If Georgia doesn't get by them, then there is something really wrong. They looked completely inept against NCS.

Now watch Ole Miss lose to them since I said that.

Is Joe Cox a definite go for tomorrow?

Lol misinformed again, actually no ACC , but I'm not stupid enough to try to justify that my conference is somehow better or on par with the two top conferences SEC/Big12, and I'm not one to take credit away from schools that really have to earn it. Just because my team might get one really good win

Lol polls mean nothing now, and even late in the season. Wasn't the greatest undefeated number 1 team, since sliced bread supposed to hand chris leak and the gators a beating? And then a year later weren't they supposed to get redemption? polls don't mean a thing.

But this really isn't getting anywhere as most osu fans you seem to be clearly incapable of accepting you schedule easy, and get credit as if you've played a top 10 schedule year in and year out. And that each year you bank on getting 1 win to get you into another national championship. When I see two top wins I'd give credit to them, but please no more silly justifications it just makes you look silly when teams like Georgia, Oklahoma, exc. are playing 3+ TOUGH games and don't get near the credit OSU will for winning 1.

Hopefully the acc will follow in their footsteps
ACC LOL. You dont' have a right to clown anyone's team and you haven't been for a while. Also I never said anything about the BIg 10 being better than the SEC. You must have me confused with someone else.

lol, I don't parade around like beating one team each year should get me in the national championship.

When you schedule in even the top 25 you let me know what your record is I think thats as far as this needs to go.
