Well won't that be the 8 month anniversary, give or take?

HAHAHAHA!!! I wish anniversary releases worked like that. Maybe like a 10 year or 25 year anniversary edition will have 4k transfers of the film or something. Although I just read a thread talking about the introduction of red-ray films to be played on 4k tvs/projectors as early as next year. So we may get that sooner than we hope.

I feel this is a very logical and practical feature that could be included. Nolan stated doing commentaries before the film is released to the audience doesn't make sense for some reason like you don't know the importance of the film and the audiences reaction and feeling towards it or something along those lines. Now that these films have been released and it's significance to its audience and the movie industry is known I feel like he would be willing to do commentaries for the films. Other then that do you think we will be getting physical items along with the set. Maybe just bonus discs with additional content?

Especially in-character commentaries from Bale.

Yeah exactly what I had in mind. It's a shame Heath Ledger passed away, would have loved to hear his commentary on playing the Joker.

Most of Nolan's films have a kind of orangy-brown look to them, especially skin tones. I can't say I like it.

Dark Knight for me is a bit of a disaster on blu-ray. Overly sharpened, contrast boosted, bad mpeg noise at some points, and a colour shift from the cinema version. The IMAX stuff looks a lot better, but the whole film should look that good, not just the IMAX stuff but the 35mm footage as well.

Inception I thought was ok, a little soft, but it was ok. Still plagued by the orange tone though.

What was obvious to me when I watched DKRises theatrically, was the the black crush was evident even in the theatre. I watched it at two different screens at two different cinema chains, (and actually two different projection methods - film projection & digital projection) and both times I paid particular attention to the blacks on-screen.

Thank you! I wasn't trying to be snarky, I just felt that the two who were going round and round could've communicated better with links to what they were talking about (as we all benefit from links to sources).

And you helping me find the ad revealed that Wal-Mart will now have the lowest price on The Trilogy (for now anyway - $27.96) as well as the lowest price on Blu/DVD Combo (for now anyway - $17.96)!!!

I noticed yesterday when I visited Wal-Mart they no longer had any copies of the trilogy set (BD and DVD). Maybe it had something do with me buying the set on Thursday and mentioning TDRK isn't meant to be released until Tuesday.

No worries. I was glad I could help because I too was following this thread and wondering where the price came from. I just gave that a shot. My question is if I were to order it today at 34.99 just to ensure I receive a copy, will they adjust the price or will I have to do a return/rebuy? This isnt Best Buy so I am not really familiar with their policies.

NEVERMIND: apparently they have a 7 day price adjustment. I might pull the trigger on this tonight then with free shipping to home.

Did you happen to notice if the dvd set had 3 discs or 6 discs?

No. The Blu-ray set also didn't mention how many discs it had. According to this website, only 3 DVDs are included.

Yeah I know. I was hoping that everyone was wrong and the US dvd set would get 6 discs. Doesn't look like it's going to happen. Oh well.

I wonder if there's any easy case mod that could be done to transform it to hold 6 discs

I thought about swapping the plastic spindles, it's slow work as you don't want to tear anything, and then glue them on the new box. But for £18, I think I'll just import from the UK!

I mean how is THIS not the BD case:

Some of it is the lenses he uses and how he uses them, but yes, his insistence on not doing DIs creates problems on digital formats. For a guy who talks about the quality of film photography so much, you'd think he'd take more care to preserve it on blu-ray.
This thread should probably be in the blu-ray subforum by the way.
