More than happy to.

I watched Madison County 3D recently (another German post-3D conversion I believe), and the 3D was basically non-existent, bar a couple of instances where I could just perceive some depth in some brightly lit outdoor scenes

My hopes aren't overly high for the 3D on this release, but the Cabin Fever films are a guilty pleasure of mine, and I don't have 2 or 3, so it's a win either way

Picked up X-Men. Gonna throw it on this weekend. From the reviews, it sounds like the 3D is pretty solid. Of course, I'm hoping the movie is good too.

Dragonfly Squadron and what a let down. The 3D was lousy, the quality of the video really was bad. I was expecting it to be a lot better.

I watched Madison County 3D (australian release) a couple of months ago and agree that the 3D was virtually non existent

I dispute that. Everybody is entitled to an opinion, but you are misrepresenting the facts.

The 3D in Dragonfly Squadron is excellent in the sense that it's deeper than most films, although not unusual for stereo films made during the classic era 60 years ago. The transfer is sharp and clear with infinitely more resolute resolution than any digitally captured movie today. There is some damage in the stock footage of tanks and planes that can't be repaired, but the dramatic interaction is layered, lit and lensed for maximum depth.

Perhaps you are unaware that photographic information resides in the film grain. That was the nature of photography in 1954. The grain you are seeing is supposed to be there. Dirt and artifacts have been removed, but it hasn't been scrubbed to the degree of removing image detail. Detail and texture are very fine and sharp indeed. The picture quality and depth are outstanding insofar as the elements allow.

Dragonfly Squadron may be a B war melodrama, but the story has considerable merit, and as a 3-D viewing experience it is a rewarding and important release.
