I thought that this movie can be literally watched as the final James Bond film because:

[Show spoiler]
He's questioned about what he would do in his spare time and that he realized he does have a choice. He chooses not to kill the final villain, he tosses away his gun, and chooses to be with Swan. I know that all the Bonds end with him having sex with the Bond girl, but the climax felt different and more of a final happy ending where Bond would settle down with Swan and give up being an assassin, and he gets to keep the car that started it all. I thought it was very emotional. The three good Craig films (Casino, Skyfall, Spectre) all combine to one excellent story about an assassin who does eventually want a regular relationship - a wake up call when he loses his two most precious women in his life (Vespa and M), and reminders from Moneypenny to have a life besides work.

I have no understanding what the hell anyone is talking about with Swan - she's one of the best Bond girls ever. The most developed female characters have ONLY been in the Craig films. The four most-developed women have been the characters played by Eva Green, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, and Seydoux.

There is a difference between memorable and developed though. Yes, P-ssy Galore and Xenia Onatopp are extremely memorable but they were cartoon characters.

After watching Spectre a second time, it gets even better - a perfect mix of the new and old style. I dont understand people bringing up unrealism again - it's a James Bond film! Spectre is equivalent to Nolan's Batmans - a perfect mix of serious and fantasy.

It'd be a pretty lame final bond film of all time because we know
[Show spoiler]what happens when Bond gets too attached to someone. They die eventually. The whole time I was waiting for that bond girl to get shot in a drive by because they were being way too happy ending with it.

I didn't stay for the credits so maybe there's a post credit scene with that...

yeah, in the post credit scene, Thanos crushes her head.

No post-credit scene. Just "James Bond will return."

Saw this today and loved it. I gave it a 4.5/5, but I will round it up gladly for the poll because it was just such an entertaining movie despite the length. In fact the length never really became an issue. The film was so gorgeously shot and composed in all aspects. And I absolutely adored Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann. She's not only drop dead gorgeous, but she continues the new and welcome trend of Bond girls with actual backbone and guts. And she really helps save Bond's ass at one point so… Yeah, I love her. The best Bond girl since Eva Green's Vesper. I really did enjoy Spectre that much overall. I would say that it is the most purely fun and entertaining film of the series since Casino Royale. And Ralph Fiennes as M? That dude nails it! There could not be a better male replacement to follow in Dame Judi Dench's footsteps. And Christoph Waltz's villain?
[Show spoiler]I look forward to more from him.

P.S. BEST TITLE SEQUENCE OF THE NEW FILMS! HANDS DOWN! Great song and stunning visuals that really set the tone. Skyfall was pretty darn awesome no doubt, as was Casino Royale, but Quantum of Solace was let down by a pretty bad song.

QoS had a mediocre one. Granted... so much of it was. Granted she did stuff but she's unmemorable. Swan was also indirect of a presence. She was plot device more than a character.

I will admit that Bellucci's character and/or that whole plot was unneeded... but I guess he needs to find out something. Saying that... It's a lot better to have Bond paired up w/ an age appropriate woman instead of a "girl" that we normally see.

Got back from watching Spectre with my s/o, and I have to say, I really enjoyed the film!

It was a lot more action focused than Skyfall was, which isn't a bad thing. Though I felt like Spectre suffered from some pacing issues, I had a great time watching it.

Will be back to the theatre next weekend to see it with a friend of mine.

4/5

No... the mouse running through a mousehole doesn't "explain" how Bond knew to punch through the wall to find the "obvious" room. (and BTW... did White have to have a crew come by to board up/drywall after every vacation?) It can only be see as explained because it's 100% completely NOT explained. I thought it maybe would have had something to do with the shadow from the window fixture that hits the wall, but nope...

I will agree that the scene on the train came out of the blue though, however, it was to be expected.
I totally remember that part. What I don't remember is
[Show spoiler]any dialog or motivation to get Bond to enter that building once he escapes. For all he knew the thugs were taking him inside there to kill him. Why, therefore, would he continue to enter the building without any idea of why exactly he was there of who/what was awaiting him? Why would he not immediately rendezvous with M and Q? Once he sees "the writing's on the wall" (gag) yes, it makes sense, but you don't get to that moment through any nugget of logic. Just as you don't having Bond shoot at Blofeld behind bulletproof glass and then essentially "trap" himself in a room he has no awareness of?

cool little touches:
- That skeleton mask worn by Bond was perfect - I couldnt get over what a perfectly shaped mask that was. Props to the costume dept!
- Scarria looked a bit like Jaws
- Hinx was like an evil monster James Bond crossed between Jaws, Red Grant and Oddjob
- James Bond landing on the couch was like an ode to Roger Moore
- Waltz' torture chamber

Is there any possibility that this film could be nominated for best cinematography?

Went with my Pops to see this earlier and we loved it! Not quite Casino Royale or Skyfall greatness but certainly better than Quantum (which I personally like). I neither hated or liked "Writings On The Wall" when I first heard it but I thought it worked perfectly over the opening credits. I don't know what was up with the reviewer on here but all the nitpicking seemed mostly exaggerated (what poop joke?). Flowed perfectly for me, just enough action and slow moments to balance everything out. I wouldn't be sad if this was Craig's last film but then again I'd love to see
[Show spoiler]Blofield
back for one more outing if it isn't. I'll probably see this again in the IMAX as my wife was working today and she wants to see it. Overall it's another solid entry for Craig. Haven't disliked any of his Bond films so far.

I'd give it zero stars, if I could. Atrocious, absolutely atrocious.

Someone actually deemed the performance from the guy playing 'C', to be acceptable?

Good grief. If that's how they want to kick off another 50 years of Bond, good luck to them. I won't be joining them.

**MILD SPOILERS**

If they were going to tie/retcon SPECTRE to the other Craig films, Waltz's character should have mentioned that he helped Silva with the killing of M and the blowing up MI6 because Silva fulfilled the Revenge and Terrorism aspects of SPECTRE while furthering the organization's own end as well, would have been better than "I am the author of your pain..."

Same thing with Quantum. They should have said that Quantum was the Counter intelligence aspect of the group.

The movie was called SPECTRE, I just wish the organization came across as bigger and more organized than it seemed.

It's really not a complicated thing that needs exposition.
[Show spoiler]
[Show spoiler]Bond was searching the room, then saw the mouse run into the hole, and realized there might be something there that he might not have checked, went over and investigated by pouring the drink and then feeling around the wall, then he punched through it.
No explanation is necessary for that. The audience even laughed at the joke in that scene. There's a lot of stuff I could nit pick about the movie but not that part.

Only thing i didn't like about the story

[Show spoiler] Unnecessary to have Blofeld be Bond's step brother. Didn't add any extra tension or drama and just made everything more improbable. A little overkill IMO.

If i mentally block that aspect I really enjoyed the film.

8/10 for me for the first 2/3 and maybe a 5/10 for the rest of the movie.
Waltz was unimpressive to me and seemed rather blasé in his role. Mads is my favorite villain of the Craig movies.

Bellucci did look rather old, her role was unecessary and I was hoping for more from her.

I also didn't like the opening credit sequence nor the song that accompanied it. That was probably the most painful part of the film for me.

Why do polls on here never have a 0?

Not saying this movie deserves a 0 but damn - its annoying sometimes.
