Good point, must have been shy on . For some I'm sure Redbox is easy and convenient. For me it would be a PITA and much more costly than Netflix disc by mail.

Try 1 day and has to be returned by 9:00PM the following day. Cost $1.99 + tax for each additional day. Here.

Redbox is clearly designed for people who regularly leave their house everyday (for work, school, etc). For people who are retired or work from home it's certainly a hassle.

The ones you buy don't have to be returned of course. They sell UHD like No Time To Die and Dune both currently $4.99.Nobody UHD for $3.99.

https://www.redbox.com/browse/for-sale-movies

I still consider $3.99 to be rental pricing. At that price I will buy things I would have rented.

Yup. I probably have about 15-20 UHD discs all gotten for no more than $6.99 at any given time. My most recent acquisitions were NTTD and Dune. Redbox definitely comes in clutch sometimes.

DiscoveryPrincess.jpg

I guess you guys didn't miss me, I was on a California Cruise on the Discovery Princess out of San Pedro, CA. All their rooms have Outside Balconies where you can have your breakfast and coffee. There were 6 in our Funster Group from the Community, the Package included Drinks and Meals. We Cruised to San Francisco, Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Ensenada. We hit some of our favorite spots in each city, going under The Golden Gate at 0700 docking at Fisherman's Wharf and walking over for lunch at Buena Vista...Clam Chowder and Irish Coffees. The ship is their newest with lots of Bars, Restaurants, Shows, and Night Clubs. Cocktails every evening at Crooners, and of course Beefeater Martini before Dinner!

I see you guys are still buying up those Discs, and some with a few problems. Wendell has the best idea putting his Movies on a NAS, but that's a lot of work. I remember back putting my new LP's on Cassette, you would get the cleanest sound. When I did my Back-up BD Movies it was Movie only like Wendell, taking all that junk off. So my vision is still Fiber Networks, and watching your Movies and TV Shows off a Network Server!

Since 2016, the Archive Collection DVDs I've purchased have been DVD-Rs but the Archive Blu-rays have been regular stamped Blu-rays.

Has anyone gotten an Archive Blu-ray title on a BD-R?

When someone escapes this asylum, I'm happy for them.

Welcome back; your room here has been waiting with all new fresh padding. I'm glad that you had a good time!

I'm quite certain that Warner Archive Collection has never used BD-R. All of my Warner Archive Collection discs are pressed Blu-ray Discs; I wouldn't have bought them if they were burned.

I did the network server thing a few times. Disc direct is still my favorite way to go.

I think optical disc is more reliable than hard drive storage. I also like being able to turn all of it off. I guess that's aways an option but most people run servers 24/7 and I did when I had them running. Since getting a solar installation on my roof, I enjoy keeping better tabs on energy use. One great thing about having solar is you can get real time data on power use easily. I got it last summer and already it's done great CO2 Emission Saved 9,143.8 lb.

I do have a little bit of frustration knowing that all my efforts to help the environment and recycle won't equal the damage done by a single luxury cruise like the one you just went on. But such is life. I hope it was fun and you are and stay healthy.

I eagerly await fiber optic ISP in my area. It's not an option yet.

Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Several family have been on cruise ships including spouse. My bucket list includes a cruise on the Inside Passage from Seattle to Alaska (fairly clam waters). My phobia - coming down again with Acute Labrynthitis. Because of vehicle motion had to take very strong meds just to travel to doctor 3 miles away.

Nothing compared to loading 25 to 35 lb. watermelons all day (sun up till sun down).

Always had my Synology sleep when not in use. Intend to do the same with the Zappiti.

Just finished converting my last florescent lighting to LED (these). Example: office lighting went from 180 watts to 64 watts. Most of the house now uses LED lighting.

Blu-ray finally overtaking DVD and UHD numbers are going up big. Still crazy that DVD is so high but I'm blaming that on Walmart and that being their primary format.

Looks like Spider-Man swung his way into our homes on blu-ray and 4K disc.

A little clarification, the Zappiti NAS copies the entire disc as an ISO file. Zappiti Neo media player will ask if you want the menu or just the movie for any given title. I will check and see what options my Zidoo Z9X have when selecting a title. Both players have several settings that I have yet to learn.

Are you going to learn all about both ?

Or was it going to be one or the other ?

I replaced all my florescent tubes with LED. All the closets in my house had them. I found out the collection place still takes them free and thought I would get on that.
