You should get that obsession with Geoff D checked. I mean he's got that charming british purrsona, but I'm sure he's more into ladies and not american rednecks.

I redeemed my code, quickly flipped through some scenes on Apple TV, and I thought it looked great!
I’ll admit, I haven’t seen it before, and I probably have the least knowledge of film tech of anyone here, so take with a grain of salt ha. |

Viewed this last night, and thought it was an incredible experience in every way. My new favorite 4K.

Oh I get it..and got it.. several "vacations" for defending myself against our buddy...still I can't stand by with disc in hand while someone with no disc tells me what's wrong with it... Titanic as well as lot of other movies lost a great deal of "reality" with HD and even more so with 4K. Special effects look can look very fake, especially with today's tv's. The best way to tame this is using a projector. This brings a more film like quality back to the disc and it's a much better viewing experience IMO. I watch a few minutes last night on my Vava 4k UST projector with ALR screen and it was quite fantastic compared to the few minutes of viewing on my OLED which looked more video gaming but still quite stunning. |

I have been ruminating over this remaster for a few days now. I don’t think it looks bad, but like another posted above, it looks wrong.
The added sharpness looks great for textured details like fabric and metals. But what gets me the most is the sharpness on the faces. The previous release wasn’t nearly as intense and was fairly naturalistic. With the new transfer, sequences with Old Rose’s wrinkles, for example, are so harsh and ghastly that it reminds me of that 30 Rock bit with the HD Camera. All in all, it doesn’t look terrible. Moments look amazing and I’m curious about trying it out on various displays. But, I don’t think it will become my preferred way of watching the film; at least right away. |

I watched it last night in my home theater. In my opinion, it's the best rendition of the film Titanic in any release home media format until today. Kind regards, Last edited by sperezmore; 12-07-2023 at 07:03 PM. |

Do we have a case of this with this 4K?

When watching last night, I paused at the point the bow dips underwater. I noticed the rigging on the left side is edited out from the middle to bottom of the frame throughout the shot. I probably would have missed it had I not paused at that particular time. Outside of that I didn't notice anything outside of the sharpness when it was in motion.

(random side note: I grew up near the Pike Place Starbucks location and saw what they did before their IPO and "frappuccinos" and such. They did once know how to make decent coffee, though nobody outside of that area ever got to see that. lol) |

I like switching up my viewings between both, depending on my mood. If it's a movie I watch often (like, "The Thing"), or something that is stuck in the 80s that screams a theater-like presentation ("The Blob"), I very much enjoy the projector. If I am desiring an amazingly pristine presentation, with a source that is still filmlike (most Sony 4ks, for example), I get giddy at the beauty of my OLED. But then next time I watch it, I'll go for the projector and still go "Dang. That looks good" but for entirely different reasons. That movie theater experience really comes to fruition. |

Personally, I think I'm going to skip this. I love Cameron's work but I don't like Titanic enough to deal with the over-processed nature of the image. I just know it'd annoy me. |
