Kinda what I expected to find inside from the description. I don't care for that style of digibook. Like I said earlier, I prefer an old school movie souvenir program style of digibook. Going with the standard release. But thanks for posting and to those of you getting the digibook...enjoy!!

Like some youtube fan video edited from different sources with different aspect ratios.

The use of 2:35 doesn't add anything to the movie imo. A constant aspect ratio would look more stylish and the Imax scenes would probably still stand out from the rest of the movie.
Nolan wanted the screen to expand for the audience while watching it on an IMAX screen. I do think they should have used seemless branching on the Blu-ray for both films to allow people to watch it in a single aspect ratio if they want to.

Stupid idea, Nolan's vision was for people to watch it with the IMAX ratios.

It's not a stupid idea since 98% of the people who saw it theatrically watched it in a constant 2.35:1 aspect ratio. I like the IMAX switching since I did get to see the film in IMAX, but I can understand if it's annoying for other people.

Disagree. That was a great idea, especially for the CIH crowd which does not get the intended effect of variable aspect anyway. They offered 2 versions in commercial theaters for this very reason and they should have the same option on blu ray. On my 2.35 screen using the zoom method, this means that EVERY time the frame opens to 1.78 it spills over the top/bottom of my screen and becomes distracting and therefore takes you OUT of the film experience. They should have had the same scope constant version on blu and offered the IMAX version as an option through seamless branching and everyone would be happy. Transformers 2 gave us the option and so should ALL variable aspect blu rays!

While I do agree with you, there is one argument against our idea for TDKR. Unlike TF2, which only had 8-9 minutes of IMAX footage, TDKR has 70 minutes of it. So even with seemless branching, you are talking about 235 minutes (3 hours, 55 minutes) of HD film footage crammed onto a BD-50. Other films of that length have been split onto two discs.

VERY good point and I had not thought about that.

In light of your point, it sure would have been nice if they would have offered 2 versions of the movie like they did for Transf 2. The BIG screen and standard edition. OR just include both versions, but put them each on their own disc.

I interpreted the question as him asking if there is only a UV copy and not an iTunes digital copy too as you see with some releases.

Yeah, I think each version of TDKR on its own disc would be best. With TDK they could have done seemless branching on it. The film was 150 minutes, plus 27 minutes of IMAX. 177 minutes isn't bad at all when you have 3+ hour films like Titanic that look excellent on a single disc. Maybe the UCE will have these options available. Main thing I hope with UCE is to get new transfers of BB/TDK and some behind-the-scenes featurettes on Ledger's Joker.

You can get that same cover from Best Buy Canada but I don't know if it is a digibook. http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...c655ca6c83en02

I know there have been a few reviews but I've had the standard blu-ray since Friday (no special packaging outside of the lenticular cover) and it is a great disc. The only comment I can make is that this disc blows Begins and Dark Knight's blu-rays away. It's painfully clear that we need updated editions and I know most people here would buy them again.

Wrong thread, I know, but even with the naturally softer 35 mm sequences, the contrast between IMAX and 35 on TDKR isn't as stark as TDK

Do you mean the uv copy? I like to know that myself if it will be HD, I hope so.

No DVD has hd 1080p resolution.

Does anyone know when the earliest that the BB TDKR steelbook be available for in store pickup? I have a few gift cards I wanna use and probably won't have time to pick up in store on Tuesday.
