i'm not exactly sure who all the starters are considered because we rotate so many people in and out on both sides of the ball. i do know that 4 of our OL are gone, they're part of the 22 seniors that we're losing. cam declared yesterday and i'm pretty sure fairley is declaring today. so that's at least 24 people that we're losing, not taking into account if any of the other underclassmen like darvin adams declares. |

USC - 2003, 2004 (and the 2003 was a split nat'l championship with LSU) Nebrasha - 1994, 1995 (And 1994 was controversial as Penn St. was arguably a better team) Alabama - 1978, 1979 (1978 was a split national title) Oklahoma - 1974, 1975 (1974 was a split championship) |

Good call. Forgot to mention that one. Easily one of the biggest hose jobs I've ever seen. Also, I believe Miami had a good case for making the national title game in 2000 with just one loss but Florida St. was chosen over them.

Figured I'd mix things up since we're in the college offseason now. What are your best national championship teams going back to say, 1990? Here's mine:
Best: 1. 1995 - Nebraska (12-0) - No disrespect to the rest but this is the finest team I've ever seen. Not a single opponent came within 14 points of beating this team. Their avg margin of victory was 38 points and they defeated four top-10 ranked teams by an average of 31 points. In the national title game they destroyed Spurrier's undefeated Gators team 62-24. If you want to see a clinic in greatness get a copy of that Fiesta Bowl. They were loaded with college superstars like Tommie Frazier (one of the best college QB's of all-time), Aaron Graham, RB's Ahman Green and Lawrence Phillips, Jared Tomich, Grant Wistrom, Aaron Taylor, Chris Dishman, Terrell Farley, etc. 2. 2001 - Miami (12-0) - Average margin of victory 32 points and won the national title game in a blowout over Nebraska. Here's just some of their roster that year. It looks like an NFL All-Pro roster. This team has 6 1st Team Al-Americans, 6 future 1st round picks and 13 All-conference 1st team selections. QB - Ken Dorsey RB - Clinton Portis, Najeh Davenport, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore ![]() WR - Andre Johnson, Kevin Beard TE - Jeremy Shockey Other offensive starters - Bryant McKinnie, Joaquin Gonzalez Key Defensive Players - Ed Reed, Jonathan Vilma, Phillip Buchanan, Jerome McDougle 3. 1991 - Washington (12-0) - Oddly enough this team was merely co-champions with the undefeated Canes in 1991. This team averaged 41 PPG while giving up just 9.6 PPG. Only one team came within single-digits of them all year. Their QB tandem was Billie Joe Hobart and Mark Brunnell. Other key players were Steve Emtman (a #1 overall Draft Pick), Mario Bailey, Aaron Pierce, Dana Hall, Ed Cunningham, etc. 4. 2004 - USC (13-0) - I think everyone is familiar with this bunch. They won by an average of 25 PPG and demolished an undefeated Oklahoma team 55-19 in the Orange Bowl Title game. Star players - Matt Leinhart, Reggie Bush, LenDale White, backup QB Matt Cassell, Dwayne Jarrett, Steve Smith, Dominique Byrd, etc. 5. 2005 - Texas (13-0) - Another more recent team most are familiar with. This team averaged 50 PPG while giving up just 16 PPG, including a win over a USC team that hadn't lost in over 2 years. Star players included QBVince Young (the real Heisman winner), RB Jamaal Charles and Selvin Young, Billy Pittman, Limas Sweed, Aaron Ross, etc. Other notable teams just missing the cut: 2009 - Alabama (14-0) - Loaded team that ended Tebow's dream of an undefeated season 2008 - Florida (13-1) - Tebow magic 1999 - Florida St. (12-0) - Bowden's best team 1996 - Florida (12-1) - Spurrier's finest squad 1993 - Florida St. (12-1) - Only loss a close one @ Notre Dame 1992 - Alabama (13-0) - rolled a terrific Miami team in their Bowl game 1991 - Miami (12-0) |

I'd say that miami team not to mention it had;
Sean Taylor (freshman) Vince Wilfork D.J. Williams Mike Rumph (who was a beast in college and a 1st round pick) Roscoe Parrish Kellen Winslow Jr. (freshman) Kelly Jennings (seahawks was a red shirt freshman) Rocky McIntosh Antrel Rolle x11 pro bowls for those guys (not counting multiple times for some guys) Don't forget Chris Campbell (rip) who died before even getting a shot at the NFL he probably would have been a 1st rounder as-well ![]() Thats the best in my op those guys talents that translated to the NFL is unmatched that Nebraska team might have been all that, but I doubt they had anywhere NEAR the NFL talent that U team produced ![]() 95' Nebraska team x2 pro bowlers with 27 playing on an NFL team at some point... That Miami team had 13 alone taken that year not counting the freshman and such that would go on to be drafted. Last edited by supersix4; 01-15-2011 at 03:11 AM. |

I gotta put the 2009 Bama team up there. First of all, that team had a switch they turned on in every game that said to the other team, "You will NOT win today!"
Second of all, that '95 Nebraska team irks me. No way in hell in a just world does Lawrence Phillips be allowed to play in that game, much less that season. But Tom Osborne was God in Nebraska, so His will be done. 2005 Texas I put way up there, too. There's a lot of ifs in this world. Last edited by ApolloOne; 01-15-2011 at 02:52 AM. Another team that got royally screwed was the 13-0 Auburn team of 2004. They didn't get a shot at the title despite going undefeated in the SEC with Jason Campbell at QB and an amazing backfield of Cadillac Wiliams and Ronnie Brown. |

Yesterday was not a good day for TCU. First, in an apparent FU to the Horned Frogs who are leaving for the Big East after next season, the Mountain West Conference announced that the Boise State-TCU game will likely be played at Boise, not TCU as previously announced. The final decision will require a vote from MWC school presidents. TCU does not get to vote on the issue since they are leaving the conference. Then, Texas Tech dropped TCU from their schedule. Tech said it was because they needed to drop a non-conference game since the Big 12 is moving to a 9-game conference schedule next year, but that excuse doesn't work because Tech only has 2 non-conference games scheduled for next season is currently searching for another non-conference opponent.

At this point it's speculation but from what I've read it sounds like he's going to go the FCS route so he can play immediately. I've heard Montana is a possibility and San Diego could be as well. Even though he's from the San Diego area I'd be surprised if he went to San Diego. It's a lower-level school that doesn't offer scholarships and he'd have a better chance of making the NFL if he went to a perennial FCS power like Montana, Delaware, or Eastern Washington. By the way, there are 3 Forcier brothers, each one a quarterback, and each one transferred during college.
