Also, as has been said to you many times before, a new thing does not automatically pose a threat to an old thing. Short bite sized youtube videos did not harm movies and TV shows and this new experiment won't either. Lastly, 400 million users (of ANYTHING) in no way, shape, or form represents the "whole of Asia." |

The you shall not pursue class action is typically the very first part of any of these documents. They know it's a bit deceptive to let a user "buy" something that they don't own. It works so well it's profitable. I haven't had much trouble with my online movies so Apple and iTunes and Vudu are all good services but I don't pay them actual money. I redeem codes from disc purchases. If they end up missing or degraded .. such is life. Free things can be as flakey as they want to be in my opinion. |

Servers cost money to build, use, and maintain. Even if you subscribe to a movie service and therefore continue to pay, it's not reasonable to expect the content you like in particular to remain on it forever. |

![]() ![]() I don't have many outright stream purchases, do have several DVD2HD via Vudu. One stream purchase was Cool World and it will finally make it to BD on 9/13/22. I will continue to stream purchase IF the title offers a real improvement in A/V quality over the DVD counterpart and is not available on BD or UHD BD. ![]() |

The Oppo 203 does most of the disc spinning, but I also have a featherweight region free modded Sony BDP-S6700 for my region B locked discs. I have a mod kit for my Oppo, but I used it on my Oppo 93 located in my office which is connected to my 3D TV. For streaming, I use a Roku Ultra; a gift given to me from a very generous friend. ![]() It is rare for me to power these up, but I also have a Pioneer DVL-909 laserdisc/ DVD player and a JVC Super VHS VCR HR-S5902U. The only game console in my main setup is an old Nintendo Wii; my "fat" PS3 and my first generation Xbox 360 (with HD DVD sidecar drive) are in my office setup. These three consoles see almost no use now. I have a turntable connected as well, but I stopped fooling with vinyl eons ago. Too fragile and too high maintenance for me. I am toying with the idea of buying some SACDs; I have never tried any. ![]() That's two posts today; I have made my quota. ![]() Last edited by Vilya; 07-08-2022 at 04:56 PM. |

UHD BD Drives. I removed my Pioneer BDR-211UBK UHD BD drive from my PC and placed in a Vantec NexStar DX (NST-530S3-BK) external case which was then connected to the Zappiti NAS. It did not work reliable so it was placed back in the PC. Had not paid much attention to the Pioneer specs and was surprised this thing needed 12VDC @ 2.2A and 5VDC @ 2.0A. Got another external case (Bytecc ME-535U3) but have not tried it yet. Noctua: Pricey but great products, I have found their fans to be some of the quietest. |

Speaking of turntables I don't use one myself but I bought a suitcase model for one of my kids the other day and she loves it.
https://www.amazon.com/Victrola-Bluetooth-Suitcase-Turntable-Speakers/dp/B00UMVW4VA/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1CRJFDVFC97KG&keywords=victrola+vo yage&qid=1657314651&sprefix=victrola+voyag%2Caps%2 C128&sr=8-1 (I don't like the sound of it's built in speakers but she does and that's what matters.) She went to the Goodwill and found a Disney Fantasia LP in prime shape for $2. I'm convinced it's worth more but this store sells all LPs for $2 regardless. She's having fun collecting them. Physical Media is where the fun is. |

I love vinyl and invested in a custom U-Turn turntable:
https://uturnaudio.com/3392397/check...fc865be4d92fa1 Once I received it I switched the surface mat to a cork mat and it's been gravy ever since. Have had it for about 5 years now. I did invest in a relatively inexpensive external pre-amp and that has made all the difference. The bass management is phenomenal: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The preamp is also made in Austria, so it's a little brick of awesomeness. |

SACDs are cool for multichannel music. I have a few of the Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs and Audio Fidelity ones. Mainly these are "audiophile" remasters, but a couple of the Audio Fidelity ones offer multichannel. All of those ones I have are hybrids where it also has a "CD" layer that plays in a regular CD player.

1) interactive TV has been tried over and over again for over 30 years but never gains any traction. When people play games they want something active when people watch TV they want something passive. don't get me wrong, maybe a call in feature on a talk show might be kind of cool. 2) look it is simple a) this is not BDlive so does not affect disk watching b) this is mostly for live content but I guess it could be used for something like a multiple choice quiz show that is pre-recorded and you can answer and it tabulates your point c) if this will have content you want to use just don't use the interactive part of it. I really don't see why in any way shape or form it matters, it is not like it will force you to interact with content, I watch a show called Genial, it is a quiz show and years ago they added an app so you can play along, I never DL the app and never played along, why will it matter if I can add a cursor on screen and click on A, B or C to the TV to play along or if I do the same on the separate app? don't know how customizable it is and I would not put anything personal on the lock screen evern if I could. But I can see valeu fro generic info that the person checks often enough like sports scores, news stories, stock prices... |
