I decided to keep my rental copy of Heavy Metal on 4K disc -- the Atmos soundtrack is phenomenal and the video is terrific.

Also placed a second 4K disc order with B&N:

Shaft 4K
The Red Shoes 4K
Double Indemnity 4K
Le Circle Rouge 4K
All great on 4K

For the gaming subscription, I could buy all the games I mentioned but I would still only play one game at a time. This way, I can complete, move on and save a fortune.

6 games would cost me £300+. The subscription is £130 a year. I’m probably going to get through around 20-22 games this year on average plus a handful of simulation games and shorter indie.

It’s a bargain.
With an attitude like that you don't have any right to be mad at people who treat movies the same way you treat games.

When a set has 50 discs in it and one goes bad it's a nightmare.
How gigantic is your Game of Thrones UHD backup?

4K games aren’t streamed. They are downloaded to the hard drive.

Comparing Apples to Oranges. Games change by their very nature. Especially multiplayer. Patches, DLC, extended maps etc..

Again, Apples to Oranges. I’m not accepting lower quality the same way digital video fans are. It’s like for like. I still experience games in 4K with 3D surround, it’s the EXACT same quality as disc. My experience is identical.

The more I save with gaming, the more I spend on film. It’s simple economics that supports my passion.

None of my games do. All of my games are played (or installed) directly off the disc and I never download any patches.

So just to be clear you would have absolutely no problem with digital movies if they were the same video and audio quality as discs? Even though they could still easily be modified or taken away at any time, like digital games are.

Plenty of other people have that exact same attitude towards film: "the more they save on film the more they can spend on their other passions."

You are constantly posting about how everyone is ruining film. By your own logic you are ruining video games in the same way.

Yeah, but those folk aren’t film fanatics, people who frequent this forum generally are. People claiming to be film fanatics generally put their spare money into that department.

How am I ruining video games? By giving them £130 every year?

You also don’t play multiplayer, I do. Modern gaming pretty much demands internet access.

By giving them money for a subscription service instead of physical discs. Therefore leading to less games being released on disc and more games becoming completely unavailable in the future.

Are you buying physical versions of all the single-player games you play?

I would absolutely have a problem.

Like Vilya, you are comparing Apples to Oranges. Games generally are a once and done experience unless we are talking multiplayer focussed. I play, I complete and I delete to create more space on hard drive.

Films, I can watch an unlimited amount of times.

I order groceries from a online service, should I stop doing that because the company can send replacements for items not in stock or change the ingredients to improve the recipe?

Are your groceries digital? Or are you buying physical groceries from an online service?

Buying the equivalent games on disc would cost upwards of £500 just for the few games I mentioned. I need that money for more 4K film discs. It’s the greater good.

I will go get that info. The box set has 33 discs.

I was happy because a lot of people had problems with the set but mine was in perfect order and I want it to stay that way.

I know I don’t. But I do have that expectation of people in this forum with HT. the masses have always been a lost cause who I have little faith in to seek out quality.
