good for you (mean it sincerly) but that was not what I was talking about in 2. let me put it this way with the second motorstorm there were a couple of on-line medals that were needed to platnum. I decided to do it for the trophy. At the time I was working as a consultant and just as the race was starting I got a call from a client with an emergency, so I had to put down the controller and go work on their IT problem. That really bugged me, with single player I can pause the game, with non-on-line play we can all decide to wait, but with on-line you can't do that.

did not mean it that way. Even if it is cooperative you still need to be of equal level as your team mates or you are draguing them down.

OK

we are not talking about the catalog but on-line play. I only play 4h on good week and I can sometimes go over a month without playing.

but let me explain 3 this way.
i) in single player the developer is responsible for the game (if the other characters are too easy/hard)
ii) in local multiplayer it is about the fun of being together
iii) in on-line the other players are responsible for the game, I don't like the thought that my inferior play could mess up someone else game time.
Most people don’t even take it that seriously if they are friends. It’s all about fun at the end of the day.

I don't want to derail the video gaming thread , but I haz a $20 promo credit to spend at Amazon and I was wondering if this would make for a fun, albeit probably stupid, choice?

I'm sure that there are better titles worthy of supporting on physical media, but getting this effectively for free makes it worth considering.

Blind bought it yesterday in 4K. Everyone I have spoke too had a bloody good time with it. Michael Bay at his best apparently.

I blind bought it at Gruv using the SIGNUP20 coupon for 20% off.

https://www.gruv.com/category/ambulance

(Should be $16 shipped after the coupon which you can use over and over again.)

I like Jake whatshisname and the commercials I saw for it made it look exciting.

Box Office: ‘Thor 4’ Thunderous With $143M Franchise-Best Opening - Hollywood Reporter 7/10

The fourth film in the Marvel standalone franchise returns Chris Hemsworth in the titular role, and launched to a huge $302 million globally.

Quote:
Marvel and Disney’s Thor: Love and Thunder added further fuel to the summer box office rally with a domestic opening of $143 million, the best showing of the standalone franchise starring Chris Hemsworth as the hammer-wielding superhero.

The pic opened in line with expectations in North America, where it scored the third-best opening of the pandemic era behind Spider-Man: No Way Home ($260 million) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ($187.4 million).

Thor: Love and Thunder also did well overseas, earning $159 million from the international box office for a global start of $302 million.

The Disney and Marvel movie is a direct sequel to Thor: Ragnarok — both were directed by the maverick filmmaker Taika Waititi — and is the fourth entry in the Thor standalone franchise. It’s also the 29th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe empire of titles.

The Thor films have never been known for mega-openings. Ragnorok fared the best at $122.7 million in 2017. The first Thor debuted to $65.7 million in 2011, followed by $85.7 million for Thor: The Dark World in 2013.

Audiences gave Thor: Love and Thunder a B+ CinemaScore, compared to an A for Ragnorak.

The movie reunites Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, while franchise newcomers include Christian Bale. The cast also includes Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi and Russell Crowe.

The marquee is the most crowded it has been since COVID-19 struck, between Thor 4, Minions: The Rise of Gru, Top Gun: Maverick, Doctor Strange and Jurassic World Dominion, along others.

Estimated domestic revenue for the July 8-10 weekend is expected to hit $235 million — up 98 percent from last year when Black Widow opened and, more significantly, up 92 percent from 2019, months before the pandemic struck.

Minions 2 came in No. 2 in its second weekend with $45.6 million for a domestic total of $210.1 million and $399.9, already making it the most successful family title since the COVID-19 crisis struck.

Top Gun: Maverick stayed high up on the chart with $15.5 million for a domestic total of $597.4 million — it is now only days away of crossing $600 million — and $1.183 billion globally.

Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic Elvis earned $11 million domestically to place No. 4. It finished Sunday with domestic total of $91.2 million and $155.1 million globally.

Jurassic World 3 rounded out the top five with $8.1 million for a huge global haul of $826.5 million.

The Movie was on sale on Vudu for $13 UHD, so I bought it yesterday and watched it. I really enjoyed it, action packed from the start. Jake Gyellenhaal plays a great criminal boss, and Elza Gonzalez as an EMT makes the part.

I saw it in theaters and quite enjoyed it. It errs on the side of Bay excess at times but overall a solid action movie.

Does it have lots of shaky cam footage or are you just not a fan of Michael Bay...or both?

Shouldn't you be considering instead of the blu-ray? I bought the 4K, but haven't seen it yet.

The King's Daughter doesn't have the best reviews; you might want to rent it first---so says the guy contemplating getting a Michael Bay movie.

I was about to ask where you were. I thought maybe you fell into the stream and got swept away by the current.

The 4K disc includes the digital code and I have a promo credit making it effectively free, so Voodoodoo can't top that deal.

Shaky cam and style, do have . The 3D folks made him change style, as in giving your eyes time to see what is happening. I have always been about what's in front of the lens and not trying to make the lens a part of story telling. Does not take much of a camera operator and DP to do handheld, shaky cam movies. Roger Deakins will cost a lot more.

Maybe, it is a 2.0:1, if it were 2.35 then I would go for the UHD. The BD does have an Atmos track.

Have done so, not a great movie but we liked it well enough to add to the library.

Do yourself an enormous favour and spring for the UHD of THE NORTHMAN, it is, by a very wide margin, the best cinematic experience I've had this year...

The movie is in fact 2:1 which is a ratio I'm seeing more and more of... so I've got it as a preset on my projector. I've got a scope screen, as I believe you do as well, so matting for it is a pretty simple exercise..

As a person who prefers 2.35:1... I'll happily take 2:1 over 16x9 or 1.85:1...

The preferred format for Netflix. In terms of preference, I’m a fan too.

I keep the media and it is the true archive.

I don't use RAID on my NAS drives anymore because I once had a HD fail and during the 30 hours it took to rebuild the array any other problem could have taken the whole array out. I also don't want to lose space to the RAID when I have the data and the backup is only the backup.
I definitely wouldn't set up RAID without an uninterruptable power supply. Learned that the hard way. Some movies ended up getting corrupted in our multiple power outages in this here awful electrical grid. Have no idea what other movies and shows are corrupted, because often the only way to find out is to watch it all the way through. If I could go back, I wouldn't set my NAS hard drives up as RAID either. Seems like more trouble than it's worth. I don't currently have enough external hard drive storage to back it all up and start over with no RAID.

Glad you are back, we all missed you and your Great Posts. I do love my Streaming options, with the addition of Disney+, Peacock, and Hulu. I have been watching a lot on Hulu, but Vudu/Fandango has some great sales on all the latest releases. That and all my in tacked Movie Collection makes them a Fantastic Streaming Provider!
