Well....not Star Wars lol. Maybe Return of the Jedi. But every time I watch A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back I'm just floored at how much they just WORK. But that's just my opinion.
Tron is my biggest one. I just don't like it that much at all. But I LOVE the sequel and I think Tron Ares looks great. Tron Legacy obliterates the original. Willow isn't very good either outside of Val Kilmer playing Aragorn by way of Indiana Jones. It rips of Lord off the Rings SO HARD.. Last edited by Streamingsux; 05-05-2025 at 05:31 PM. |

I'm all about some 80s movies, rewatch them all the time. Never saw The Goonies back then, and when I finally did get around to watching it a few years ago, I just hated every single frame. Started off loud & annoying, got worse as it went on. By the time the second hour of torture started, I was hoping for an ending where they all died a horrible, flaming death.

Yeah it's hard for me to even imagine The Goonies without the nostalgia factor. If I just watched it for the first time like this decade...I'd probably at the very least be intensely indifferent to it..

Star Wars was for kids. It's only now be super catered to man/womanchildren.
It's lost the appeal when Lucas handed it over. The shows and Kathleen Kennedy ran any appeal of it into the ground. Thank god the video games of the world tend to be good. Usually. |

I was 12 when it was released. I saw it and thought, "I'm so glad none of my friends are like that". Saw it again when it hit DVD, and I still hated it.
Would I have liked it more if the kids weren't so obnoxious? I'll never know. |

The Goonies was one of those movies that other kids in the neighborhood had, but was not in my own family's VHS collection (all movies taped off of free preview weekends of various cable movie channels). As a result, I saw it maybe a only couple of times, and its stature grew in my mind mostly because it was a popular movie that I did not have ready access to.

Night Of The Creeps and Night Of The Demons are equally as great as Return Of The Living Dead hands down! Yet they aren't as well known or talked about.

For the most part, George Lucas was right.

The Goonies was a film that I saw because my dad thought it was so awesome and that I would really enjoy it. I thought it was fun but I couldn't relate to any of those kids, and Josh Brolin's character really bothered me. He resembled all the older kids that were mean to me and the fact that he got accepted into the group and got the cute girl in the end didn't seem fair lol. Anyway, it just wasn't a film that I'd make an effort to revisit. The reason I saw it so much is because it was constantly playing on TV.
I agree with Dr West, The Monster Squad was the film of that kind that I'd always revisit and that I could relate to, the kids spoke my language (the love for horror) and I liked that the older dude was cool and protective of the younger kids. |

I don't think they belong on my list tbh. If you are making a living out of critiquing Disney movies, you probably buy a ticket and see it asap so you can get your video out on time.

Even as a kid I disliked The Goonies.
I once bunked off school with a friend to see Back to the Future on it's opening day. The same cinema was also showing Goonies. He wanted to see that instead. I said you'll be going in on your own. We saw BTTF instead. I've not seen him since we left school, but I hope he's eternally grateful. |

Aside from the ending, I prefer Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes over the original and find it much more entertaining.
That said, the newer films are the best overall. |
