Completely agree with this even though I enjoy the first two a lot (especially Omega Man) and can tolerate the Will Smith entry until I get Big Willied out. But the story deserves a definitive version.

Weaver in Aliens.
Takes charge over experienced seasoned soldiers.

Hamilton
Shakes off her previous demure persona and becomes the muscled bound hero.

Again, if T2 and Aliens came out in this day and age it would get branded as woke and I think you're being deluded if you think it would be embraced by the grifters.

Prey is an excellent example of this.

You’re right, it’s a prequel but it does serve as a soft reboot.

I think Hancock and I am Legend are great movies until the half way point.

Nolan's Batman trilogy was obviously a studio gig but he wanted to make Heat. He just got stuck having to add a comic character to the mix.

I dig what he did and what he brought to the table. The trouble with Dark Knight, the pinnacle, is how Ledger's Joker overshadows almost every other aspect of the film and trilogy. He was just that good.

Reeves' The Batman stays with the gritty but plunges even further. It really leans into the weird world of Batman where as Nolan tried to make it make sense in his eyes. Reeves seems like he honours the characters and world more because lets be honest: Batman is goofy.

Speaking of, that's why Batman and Robin is my fave. Nostalgia googles for sure but I don't care. Freaking love Schumacher and what he did.

Halloween (18, Kills, Ends) are better than Radio Silence's mediocre Scream movies.

Mega post cause I haven't been part of unpop for a while.

Hot take: it's okay to spoil a film that's almsot 50 years old.

I truly hate when people use them as examples. Grifters like Critical Drinker always mention them when complaining about newer films and it's super basic and limiting to keep going back to them.

The world is yearning for a modern day version of this. Not a remake but something to have some fun and lean into modern identity politics.

I hate the 2016 film but I would say that at the very least it was made with particular intentions. Subjective to whether you side with them or not.

I would love a remake of Logan's Run. But man they could never replace Jenny Agutter.

TDK has one of the best villain performances ever but Batman doesn’t feel like Batman. The closest he comes to being a detective is reconstructing a bullet. The Batman, Batman feels like Batman. He is a detective and he puts in the work to solve crimes.

It’s like Raimi’s movies, I love the first two movies but I much prefer Garfield who acts like I imagine Spider-Man would act.

I agree. Logan’s run is the perfect movie to remake. Great high concept but dated effects.

Prey is an excellent example of this.

Prey is not an excellent example of anything, and the fact that the lead is lady has nothing to do with it.

The point is Prey showed a woman being perfectly capable of taking down a predator using her wits and ingenuity and the grifters hated it. They always bring up Aliens and T2 as strong female characters they like (the equivalent of how can I be racist if I have a black friend). What is the difference between the lead in Prey and the leads in T2 and Aliens?

You want a new take on a classic formula just to inject modern-day politics into it? This is deranged.

It’s amazing how many old movies had the politics of the day injected into them.

She wins through plot armor and contrivance more than skill which is why I didn't like it. It's been a while since I saw it, but I remember that she gets close enough for it to hit her and it doesn't kill her despite taking out a bear earlier. I also thought the way it was killed with it's own weapon was hokey and unbelievable.

There's also a laundry list of silly stuff that didn't work for me, like that throwing ax on a rope which would not work at all.

True, but in order for it to stand the test of time it would need to be subtle and that kind of thing is always really overt these days.

I agree with this. It shouldn’t be on the nose or preachy especially in the age of streaming when you can watch movies over and over again to dig beneath the surface.
