Thing is, to Disney's credit, we were all warned that there would be a re-release at the end of the year. That was their way of saying "if you don't want to double dip, hold out until the end of the year, because there's another edition coming out".
And anyone who thought the new release wouldn't include new features is surely kidding themselves... that shit is a trademark of both Disney and Lucasfilm.

And of the format in general. They know some will buy to have the 3D, some will buy to be completists, some will buy just as an easy Christmas gift and - perinent to this - some will buy for the features. I could see more credence in the moaning if they didn't port everything over meaning you couldn't flog the older version..but they did. And they've kept the release under 20 quid for a 3D disc..not too shoddy considering the franchise.

As cash-grabs go...this isn't even a minor instance.

Exactly right!! I think this is such a reasonably priced product, and it's so family friendly because it literally includes EVERYTHING. They could have easily gone the route they did with the Saga blu release and discard basically all of the DVD features.

And again - prior warning of another edition is to their credit and practically unprecedented with these things. I think the moaning is from everyone who missed the mention in the press release. But, it was there, and people could have waited if they wanted. This is a triple-dip for me and I'm happily picking it up day 1 because I knew it was on the way.

Your loyalty to Disney is laudable. I'm sure you're guaranteed a job there should you ever apply.

This release, though (and I really can't ever remember Lucasfilm re-releasing the same film within such a short space of time before) is a 3D release. As much use to me as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Did they ever put out a 3D release of one of their films before?

No idea. And I've even less idea as to the relevance of the question.

He was making a point - there has been no need to re-release a title so soon in the past. None of the others have had 3D, so didn't demand an immediate rerelease.

Not me, I haven't had a chance to pick it up (I was after the HMV steelbook). So pleased I missed out, I've ordered the Zavvi steelbook of the extended edition.

Be interesting to hear when it actually arrives as their dispatch to delivery time scale can differ greatly.

Once someone gets the 3D disc can they confirm if the Falcon escape is in 16:9? Civil War and Guardians for example only had their IMAX scenes in the 3D version.

It's a pretty sturdy set. BBFC ratings are on the slip.
