If you really want that system and have patience to wait you can get it for $300 because it periodically goes on sale in the form of money off the purchase price or giftcard (newegg.com in recent past).

You also have another option, one which I considered for myself. You can get 2 sets of CB-5's ($99 per set currently) and a CC-5 (center channel) for around $130, maybe even $100 if you get lucky and match it up with a EW-100 (can be had for around $150) or a ESW-8 (same sub as the one in the Take Classic) the high gloss version of the ESW-8 are sold in a few places but if you want to match the wood grain on the CB-5' and the CC-5 than you can pick the ESW-8 at electronics expo or around $150 (I would try to bargain for less with them). Once you want go 7.1 you can get one more set of CB-5's which you have the option of buying brand new from an authorized dealer because these speakers are sold this way unlike the sats that come in the Take Classic system. You would end up with a system that is superior to the Take Classic (at the $400 price point) for not much more money or maybe even the same $400 that you would spend on the Take Classic.
That does sound like a good idea, but the cheapest I could find the cc-5 is for $198.00. That would put me at $400 without a sub. Would the sound quality be that different from the Take Classic set?? Thanks for the help and info.

Try this link for the CC-5

http://www.audiophileliquidator.net/...ducts_id=10695

Vann's offered me the CC-5 for $129.99 and some people have claimed that you can get that speaker from electronics expo for $100 with codes.

Try vanns for $129 for the CC-5, you could grab a polk psw-10 for about $99 on amazon or newegg, that keeps you close to $400

be careful with audiophile liquidator, they have a very bad rap around all the forums as far as constant delay, CS, not having stuff in stock like they say, price changes after you paid....... you are warned... I too almost bought from them

Why bother with PSW10 when he can get EW-100 for $50 more and the EW-100 is superior to the polk.

What is the opinion on the YST-SW315 sub. They rate the response at -10dB so it is misleading but I think you can get usable bass from it in the mid to low 30's.

I have never heard this Yamaha sub, so based on the fact that the Premier Acoustics PA-120 is less then the amazon price of the Yamaha, and its a 12" sub, the 24 hz has been proven by testing on this site and AVS Id suggest the PA-120

Otherwise look at the Emotiva Ultra subs, they have 10 and 12 inch subs for great prices

Also look at LAVA subs on this site, if you tell them you found them on BD.com they will give you like 15% off.

Look at the Lava site/forum thread here, you can get 2 10" subs for $340, and 2 subs are always better then 1

http://www.lavasubs.com/10_inch/powe...subwoofer.html

there is also a comparison of the Lava sub to the Polk, Klipsch and Mirage/Energy subs.

Ive only heard 1 yamaha sub, its at my wifes friends house, and its OK. It wont ever match my eD, but it seemed OK

Is the x-over on the ESW-C10 logarithmic or is each mark between 40Hz and 120Hz a value of 10Hz?

So I am assuming I should set my speakers to 80hz and my sub to play below 80?

What do you set the x-over on the sub when it has no off switch like the Imotiva has?

Just as an example: front set to 60Hz, center to 70Hz, and surround to 80Hz.
What should be the setting on the sub assuming that the x-over on the sub can't be turned off?

if your using the bass management of the reciever meaning the receivers cross-over, then turn the crossover on the back of the sub to its max position, this eliminates any chance of an audio hole

By max position you mean the highest value?

yes, if you are crossing over in the receiver, then set the crossover on the back of the sub to 120 hz, or whatever the max happens to be, 100, 120, 150, 180 or 200 hz

the crossover on the back of the sub is redundant in this case for the most part, but is good to use as a second filter so there isnt an audio hole

X-over all the way to the max and let your receiver manage the bass.
