To be honest with you mate, some of these figures being quoted are made up by tabloid journalists to create a sensationalist storyline. You are correct though, yes energy prices are certainly rising, but I've noticed with these online newspapers that there seems to be a different figure quoted virtually on a daily basis. And I love the way they constantly use the word "could" - journalists favourite word along with "maybe" and "perhaps".

I would have loved a job as a film critic, watching lots of new releases and getting paid for it.

That, too, but Steedeel's job description is even easier: just WATCH the movie-get $50; no essay required.

That IS a good deal. Having watched two films earlier this evening, I would have been $100 richer now.

He can afford it; he's loaded!

Or does he just get loaded? Let's go with the first one!

Ah, it’s got to be The Wicker Man or Pagan related mate. I can’t wait to bore Vilya with my take on the film!

Yeah, I hope mate. As a single guy I can sail through the turbulence, but I fear for others. It could get to the point where a couple buying there own home could energy bills more expensive then their mortgage. That’s crazy.

Not pagan related this time - a war film and a horror film.....The Train (Burt Lancaster) and City of the Dead (Christopher Lee). Seen them lots of times, but never get tired of repeated viewings. Mind you, the Lee film does deal with witchcraft.

At least it’s related. The great Christopher Lee!

Him, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price. What a dream team and I can watch most things starring those guys.

On a brighter (literally) note we spent a few hours at the Audio Advice Live event in Raleigh NC today. Main focus for us was the JVC and Sony projectors. JVC was showing the DLA-NZ9, $26,000 and Sony was showing the VPL-XW7000, $28,000. Absent was the NZ7, NZ8, XW5000 and XW6000. The JVC and Sony almost made me think I was viewing a 140" OLED. Both were very bright and detailed. Will view the XW6000 later this year.

Did miss the madVR presentation but got to talk to their rep for several minutes. We did watch a presentation using a Sony VPL-VW5000ES, $60,000, 170" Stewart screen, madVR, Trinnov AVP. Impressive

Almost forgot, the source in all the rooms we attended was the Kaleidescape and/or Oppo UHD BD players. No streamers allowed.

With beautiful high-end equipment you've just described, only a 4K disc would do for demonstration.

Sony and JVC were demonstrating their best gear and they weren't about to feed it the junk food that is streaming. Wouldn't compression artifacts at 170" been a hoot to see! "Wait everybody, the stream is still buffering."

Even more amusing is that Sony also shunned its own Bravia Core streaming service. Sony knows what they are doing when it comes to real A/V quality and that means nothing doing with streaming.

Fun way to spend a day I bet. I am on the books for Chad to calibrate my JVC on 9/20. Really looking forward to seeing the difference as I am already blown away with how good it looks pre-calibration.

As part of the demo, JVC was showing some clips from the Spears and Munsil UHD/4K HDR Benchmark test disc. Really wish all home theater enthusiast, regardless of space and finances one may have, could see a demo like this.
