Shit. Do you think it was your long trip you mentioned last week that did it?

Hope you have swift recovery.

Well fake or not they sure sound good to me, and pickup all the Great Sounds especially when I view it late at night!

Yes take care Vilya, I love our Banter, and I hope you recover soon.

What are you waiting for because we're not going to be around forever. Life is short! You better start watching and enjoying your movies before it's too late. That's what you've bought them for, not to sit on the shelves for decoration to look pretty.

Back when video stores were going out of bussiness I purchased some movies just because they were under $1. My thinking was maybe I'll watch it or maybe someone else will want to watch it.

I have a few movies I just can't get the willingness to watch .. (An example would be the Social Network ... It's part of one of the box sets and I don't like Facebook and don't want to see a movie about it. I doubt I'll ever watch that one.) A few I tried and didn't like but still that notion that maybe someday someone else will want to watch it is the reason they just sit here.

I think there's really less than a percent out of my whole collection that I have not watched at least once.

However, ... the bonus features of most of my collection go unwatched. On very rare occasions if I really liked something I may check out the bonus features. I can usually tell right away if everyone is just taking turns complementing each other and I tend not to like that type of bonus. "Oh when I heard so and so was working on the film I knew I just had to be in it ..."

Some times the bonus features are actually truly interesting.

I watch movies and TV shows every day. But I never focus on trying to watch everything I haven't seen; if I did that it would seem like a chore.

I watch whatever I want to watch whenever the mood strikes me.

I pre-ordered the 4K set of Highlander via Amazon UK and ordered the 4-disc mediabook Blu-ray set of The Man Who Laughs from DiabolikDVD.

It’s going to be some transformation going from the fuzzy, dark, poorly defined VHS to a crisp, sharp 4K disc of Highlander.

Also, the Queen songs are going to rock!

Thank you all for the get well wishes.

It is day three and I feel like crap, but I am still at home. They put me on that new anti-viral drug Paxlovid, which leaves a nasty bitter aftertaste that I can not shake for anything.

I do not even feel well enough to watch any movies. I spend most of my time in bed in and out of sleep. That's where I'm headed now.

Having a 10 dollar add-on to my Amazon service is not going to kill my digital library that I don't even care about anyway.

Man discs rule so much. They surround me like a warm blanket.

I have several streaming services which I use for original programming which does not always become available on physical media.

Let’s say customers are offered a major discount for not using their electricity between 8-12 for example. Not everyone would be happy, but large sections may be willing to make those sacrifices.
the world is in constant flux that is normal. Can things change, absolutely (especially since we are talking about something that is not even implemented yet). But at the end of the day we need to be reasonable.

You can't offer huge discounts for not using electricity between 8-12 (or any other time frame). think of it. I don't know about you but my Microwave, oven, alarm system, thermostat all use very little electricity 24/7 for their displays,. There is other equipment that has LEDs 24/7 for status, my router modem are also on 24/7 and my refrigerators and freezer go and off when they need to so that they can keep the food at the right temperature. The only way to use no electricity is to go to the panel and turn off the main circuit breaker with all the negative it brings with it.

I took the time to go back to the original post and article that started this discussion and will get at it in a second but I love the way they say 5-8 but you made it 8-12 to make it more prime time

Notice the mention of ‘games consoles’. It starts.
first of all like we have told you many times and they started off the article with

It has been reported that rebates for minimizing the use of goods such as tumble dryers, dishwashers and games consoles during the peak hours of 17:00 and 20:00 could be as high as £6 per kWh saved.
can we start with the elephant in the room? there is something seriously wrong with that last part. Let me put it this way, look at your bill and how much you pay per kwh, was it a mistake and he meant 6p? was it a mistake and he meant £0.6?did he not mean kwh and meant day or week for that savings? I have no idea what it will really mean.

Now the guy did bring in the console but then you take it to a silly level.
a) maybe the discount won't be anywhere near what he assumes and so won't bother giving up playing 5-8
b) even if the guy does that at most it will influence game purchases (taking longer to finish games, he buys less of them) why would you assume it means he won't play the other 21h of the day?
c)game consoles where not in the first list of high power usage activities. so how do you know why he included it in the second list of things he can give up to save on electricity 5-8? let me play devil advocate. online Gaming= console+ TV+ internet connection; watching streaming directly on the smart TV = TV+ internet connection. It might not save a lot but it saves something and it is an easy change of activities.

Oil/gas is highly transportable, it is a light liquid that is dense in energy and so even though the price at the pump can be a bit different due to transportation, taxes.... the price of a barrel is the same no matter where you live in the world and it can be moved by pipe, boat, train and truck....

Electricity on the other hand can't be transported easily, it needs high power lines and even there it is limited.

Natural gas (the real issue here) is in between the two. It can easily be transported by pipe as a gas extremely long distances but it is too voluminous and so anything other than pipe needs the infrastructure and power to squeeze it to liquid form and then specialized containers that can hold that extra pressure to move it by ship or train or .... which increases the transport cost

The price for NG here has been relatively stable but in Europe it is 4 or 5 times what it used to be a couple of years ago and in the UK (that steed cares for) it tends to be from around 1/3 to 2/3 of the source of electricity used
https://cms.zerohedge.com/s3/files/inline-images/db%20nat%20gas.jpg?itok=DmU7Avh4[/img]

he is not (like your chart) talking of 15 cents a kwh but possibly over 0.5 or 0.6 pounds a kwh and no one knows how much higher the price of NG can go (and so with it the price of electricity).
