I was wondering about this email as well. I think they are just drumming up sales cause there is a lot that is supposedly going OOP.

So is that list for LOW stock, even thought the search is for "Out of Print?" Only two if those 78 items actually say OOP, and I don't see that phrase on the item pages anywhere. Maybe they have an Out of Print Counter hidden in the code for each page somewhere, that the search function is finding?

Yeah. This kind of e-mail annoys me. Although it did get me to buy Blue Exorcist Kyoto cause it says it is OOP and I did need to get it. Dammit rightstuf.

So they’re trying to say that nearly ALL of their Aniplex titles are going OOP? I find that extremely hard to believe. 71 out of the 78 supposed OOP products are Aniplex. Suspicious much?

If that were actually true, then AoA would have to be planning something, a major change in their marketing or release strategy or something, if they've arranged to have the majority of all their existing titles go out of print all at once. But yeah, all those titles still can't be going OOP all at the same time, that's crazy.

So yeah, like gundamcero, I had to order Kyoto Saga 2, that's the only AoA title I needed out of that list, fortunately.

I think it is a mix of drumming up sales and actually going OOP personally. I don't think it would be too far out if UBW set 1 is gone for 2 to be OOP as well and Wagnaria is believable since it wasn't as popular as the original series. A lot of things OOP still take forever to sell out too.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had a similar email with UBW set 1 or something else that went OOS randomly without us knowing.

Anyone getting the live action Death Note collection tomorrow? I missed out on the Viz release but this Funimation release looks inferior despite it coming out 9 years later.

It's FAILimation, so that's obvious. 2 movies on 1 disc? (Thank god they're not including the dub- the dub for the anime isn't terrible, but dubbing a live action movie is pointless)

4 1/2 hours on a BD-50? It's not impossible to get good results, but with FUNi's idiots, prepare for the worst...

I tried to watch the dubbed version of the Rurouni Kenshin live action and had to turn it off after 5 minutes. Not only were the voices terrible but it simply wasn't normal. What the hell is the point in dubbing a live action film? It's like..why? Watch it with subtitles?

I really have no idea. It costs more, and the people who are gonna watch it will watch it subbed as the voices will NEVER match up, so why bother?

I can kind of understand doing Shin Godzilla, as it's a tradition to do poor dubs for the franchise, but otherwise, it makes no sense...

I still can't believe its finally finally happening. And for less then $40?!

For people asking, there have been rumors floating around for years that most of the 80s and 90s Votoms materials (including Mellowlink) were destroyed in a flood. So don't expect anything except Pailsen Files, Phantom Arc and Alone Again (and I guess Case:Irvine and Finder) be be HD Blu-ray. Ever.

Only the Mellowlink OVA series and the 1994 OVA Shining Heresy is part of the destroyed masters.

The three 80's OVAs and the TV series got a telecine remaster DVD release in Japan.Maybe some day there might be a HD Blu Ray.

And Palisen Files OVA series was only released on DVD and I don't think it was even produced in HD. The movie version was released on Blu Ray.

The last batch of OVAs mentioned were HD Blu Ray released though.

Hmm, maybe you're right, its a 2007 series, right in that weird middle period when they were animating standard def in Widescreen.

I’ve read conflicting stories about the Mellowlink masters. I know there was a dvd release of it in Japan so I wonder what they used as the source for that.

What are you talking about? You sound like this is being released in HD, when it's just DVD on BD (SDBD).

It’s not DVD on Blu-ray. And you know it. It’s 480p with better encoding, higher bitrates, and lossless audio.

It’s annoying that you have to downplay it every time it’s brought up...

I really don't see how I'm downplaying SDBD, 480p is DVD quality. Unless I'm misunderstanding something. I'm all for understanding how great 480p is with better encoding and bitrates. Isn't it still 480p?

We're talking about the little square box, right?

I'm not trying to fight here, I just want to know why (From a quality perspective, I get people's desire to have sets that take up less space/less number of discs/other non-quality aspects.) I'm in the minority of not especially caring about buying stuff again in 480p with less ugly subtitles. (I'd be shocked if the made Votoms lossless audio.)

Votoms has lossless audio. All of Sentai and Maiden Japan’s SDBDs have lossless audio.

It’s still 480p. Obviously. But, the thing is that MPEG-2 isn’t that great of a video codec, and MPEG-4 allows for better detail at lower Bitrates (if the compressionist wanted to have them low), and depending on the Japanese licensor, May be better than an upscale (better than Q-Tec, that’s for sure).

My main selling point is- “DVD resolution, Blu-ray encoding”
